Same reason we don't call LGBT rights activists "-blam!-ity activists". The term reflects the marginalised and disenfranchised group.

Boom. This is the type of pity-party BS this thread was based upon. You, and every other dumbass feminist, believes that women are still disenfranchised. You're not. You're not paid less. You're not being given unequal gender roles. You're just pissed that you're not men, because your testosterone levels are so high that you feel the incessant need to prove that you can do what we can do, and more.

And yes, your testosterone levels are waaaaay too high, considering your orientation. But then, there's no way that any true feminist can be a Kinsey 0.

So would you openly donate to a group called "masculinists" if they represented equality?
There are men's rights activists. Amongst causes they support: the right to -blam!- women and go unpunished because men shouldn't be expected to control their libidos, the exclusion of women from professional fields and high-paying jobs, and the right of men to beat their spouses.

I don't think I'd want to be involved with a group of people like that, no.

But that is an unfounded generalization. Much like how women's rights groups are rooted in women's issues, so too are men's rights groups rooted in men's issues.

Gender neutral approaches to adoption, for example, are one of the legal issues that have been battled. My dad, for example, was denied his son from his first marriage simply because he was a man. That was a law. Men's rights groups sought to make it more gender neutral, which to me, is a real issue.

Not all support -blam!- culture, marginalization of women, etc. It is so sad that a few idiots ruin the image. And to me, that is the issue some feminists face, too.

I am trying to process your bigotry in a way that helps both of us, and I am struggling.

Women are paid less, aren't given the same benefits as men in many situations, are considered the minority, lose out in many positions in life due to men, are marginalized in hundreds of ways you apparently won't even to stop to conceive, let alone be thankful for being a man for.

For the purposes of this thread, I am genderless, without orientation or defining characteristics beyond that I am a feminist.

Come at me.

LOL

I'm a Kinsey 3, but I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with my desire for equality and more to do with the fact that I like boobs.

This is the part of the proceedings where I back away and let y'all do your thing for a while as I go play a little Age of Empires.

Because people only see the extreme ones. There is still a little bit of inequality in the western countries and of course, women are still treated like -blam!- in some countries.

Here is Canada. Women are getting university degrees, but they are in the social sciences, and arts. The fields of economics, business and commerce, and the sciences are still male dominated. (Including: chemistry, engineering, bioengineering, etc)

  • 12.22.2012 8:20 PM PDT

Some women make a lot. You are making money and you are getting enough to live comfortably. Why do you need to make as much? If it were a huge difference in salary like the guy makes 100,000 a year and the girl makes 20,000 a year for the exact same job then I agree there is a problem but if the difference is minimal then what's the problem?

While jay's debating skills may not be satisfying to you, consider that point trying to be made.

There is absolutely no theory or philosophy out there that doesn't have hypocritical followers who twist it and make it useless for its intended purpose. If you are to judge how quality a belief is by the people that misinterpret it, you are going to see only cynicism and sadness out of everything.

Democracy, Christianity, Buddhism, Atheism, Capitalism, Marxism. Those are all theories and beliefs with followers who twist it and selectively interpret it for their own benefit, thus damaging the credibility for everyone else. I don't judge Christians by Westboro Baptists, nor do I judge Atheists for some pig-headed bigots that I see persecuting others. I know there is legitimacy in their thought and wisdom to be gained form understanding all viewpoints.
