I know, right?
Jay acts like she's better than everyone else simply because she's a chick.
I hope she chokes to death.

The same goes for men being discouraged from jobs involving children.
Pardon? I don't know if everything in Canada is different, but my major is Children's Studies. No one pressured me one way or the other to it. I chose if of my own accordance.
Basically, there's a stigma about men and how we're all sex perverts. I'm not allowed to be alone with a student, regardless of their gender, at any time. Females? Not a problem.I can vouch for this. I work at a school and I've had to chaperon male teachers overseeing female students during lunch breaks and the like. It's really unfortunate for everyone that rates of -blam!- assault are so high that we have to treat all men like suspects no matter what their true nature or intentions. But the fact is, abusers don't hold up flashing neon signs saying "I'm going to -blam!- you later!" Most rapes are perpetrated by friends or close associates of their victims (this goes for male-on-female and female-on-male as well as same sex, btw), and once the rapist gets away with it once, they are far more likely to offend again. If people are interested, I'll look up the stats on repeat offenders, as well as the stats on men who've said that if they could -blam!- a woman without any consequences, they'd do it, and offenders who've admitted that they'd re-offend if they wouldn't get caught. So we have to treat everyone like a potential abuser because unfortunately, there's no way to tell if they aren't.
The only way for us to reverse this is to lower assault rates to the point where it would be no more logical to treat every man as a potential rapist than it would be to treat every kid walking down the street in a hoodie as a potential murderer. And the only way to do that is to be open and direct about our treatment of the subject, harsh in our punishments of those who offend, and unflinching on our definition of what constitutes assault (hint: if they haven't said yes, NO MATTER WHAT, you can't have sex with them). That way, we can both reduce the incidence of assault and reclaim some territories as safe for men and women both.
