Subject: I think I've lost my desire to play video games

http://www.last.fm/user/metaldiscussor

Funny thing is I think over the years, I have lost a lot of my desire to play video games. Apparently there's a lot of people who still play video games when they get older, but picking up a game controller, ironically feels more awkward in my hands. I was playing Halo Reach today. I played one round and got too bored to continue playing. I actually got booted for killing some guy who kept shooting me. The whole joystick thing doesn't feel right to me either. Perhaps because I've played a lot of counterstrike recently, mouse is easier to use. Even counterstrike isn't very fun to me, it's just a time killer. So video games don't appeal to much anymore and I don't know why. I used to play them all the time.

I like to play Reach for fun. I hate MLG, campers, armor lock, and team killers because they ruin that fun. Deal with it.

You're growing out of it; everyone does eventually. I find myself playing less every now and then too.

If you're playing games just to kill time, then maybe you should look for another hobby.

I've slowly lost interest as I've gotten older.

Unto the Fray we go

You're either getting old or take a rest, play something retro, go to an arcade, or just kick back, relax and eat some mtn dew cupcakes.

I've lost mine, just about.

The only game that I'm looking forward to getting is Bungie's game. Other than that, I don't give a damn about any others for some reason.

I make a living of selling my body, and I don't mean sex.

I just switch to singleplayer games when I get bored because everybody I play with drones for exp and not for fun.

Not true at all there are people that do and some that don't. It really depends on the person. Personally I think people get worn out and take a break from it occasionally.

When the controller felt weird, I would go to mouse and keyboard, there's a whole world of games that aren't on consoles that are on PC. Check it out sometime.

So you think a guy could get worn out and keep playing again later well into his fifties?

But yes, that is possible. People get tired of things all the time, take a break, and later go back to it. I know I have.

And not everyone gets bored of it in the first place.

Infection in Halo 3 isn't zombie killing; it's ethnic cleansing. Have you ever noticed that these "zombies" are just black Spartans?

Play something different.

My tastes in games have changed dramatically over the years. Several years ago my gaming time was split about 50:40:10 between multiplayer shooters, single-player RPGs and "others". Now it's closer to 5:70:25. I almost never play shooters now.

The Wonderful LeSieg!

You either are growing out of the hobby (a perfectly acceptable behavior), are going through a bout of emotional malaise (like depression, which is nothing to be ashamed about), or need to switch up genres and try new experiences in games or outside of games.

Try playing a type of game you normally wouldn't, or try taking up a new hobby! If you feel it may be an emotional/psychological issue, take it up with a physician as soon as your resources allow.

Best of luck, OP.

Even though I'm on my path to be a developer, I sometimes feel this way. Usually I can play a game by myself if I really am in the mood, but really I only play most games with friends now. No friends, no gaming.

I absolutely love Roosterteeth. Don't ignore everything else I've said.

The reason I said angrily is that I've already posted a reply to you.
