Subject: Halo 4 - True Skill in Social Playlists

I am no genius here, but I think if there was no true skill in Halo 4 Social Playlists (currently, all playlists are social), more people will enjoy the game. Skill based matchmaking should be accessible in every game, but many players do not like to participate in competitive games, and just like to dominate other players when the time calls.

If there was a ranked playlist for players who enjoy competitive matches, and a social playlist for players who do not enjoy much competition, then I feel Halo 4 would be much more successful.

People tend to enjoy a game much more when they are "wrecking noobs." In Halo 4's current playlist system, matches seem to match others based on K/D, which may or may not appeal to people's liking...

What do you think about this matter?

They'll bring in a visible Ranking system in January. But I honestly never cared either way if there was Social, or Ranked playlists.

I want to play with good people, not idiots who don't know what the -blam!- they are doing and go like -10 plus every match.

Searching with a full party should accommodate your needs.... Believe it or not, this problem was present in Halo 3's 1-50 system when one player had an off game.

Explain

No matter who the player, casual, competitive, grey inbetweener: Nobody likes getting -blam!- on.

You don't like spawning, walking five feet to see a guy who instantly out DMRs you, respawning, walking that same five feet to see the guy who instantly out DMRs you again.

Take away TrueSkill and you will get those types of scenarios.

That happens quite a lot in Halo 4's current matchmaking system too :/

I think a moderate true skill system (like in Reach where connection had more emphasis than skill) would be ideal in Halo 4, as long as they bring a ranking system to the game.

I liked Halo 3's playlists, having Ranked and Social. I somewhat agree, in that I for one would like it better. And not because I want to "wreck noobs", but because people tend to play in ways that are a lot more fun in those playlists. I never cared about winning or losing, just if it was fun.

If I found out Halo 4 matched solely off of K/D, I would wreck my K/D, just to play with the fun people.

Nothing is perfect.

And if there is a low number of your similarly skilled peers, there's nothing even a perfect system could do to make that better: It either puts you into a sub par game or it doesn't put you into a game at all.
