The Didact, no contest. The introduction to that character was (IMO) the best cutscene in all of Halo.

Too bad he sucked as a villain. Vague motives against humanity, laughable hypocrisy and you only meet him face to face twice just so he can Force choke Chief.

And he only destroyed one city in Arizona after all that. LAWL.

He is somewhat of a hypocrite but I think he truly does view humanity as a threat. His motives arent vague at all unless you're an idiot. And he wasnt trying to cause complete mayhem, death and destruction. He wasnt even really evil.

For the most part the didact has never even been the antagonist. You know alot about halo lore's so you should know this. Are you really that fueled by blind hate for halo 4?

Is it really blind hatred if I actually gave reasons for why I didn't like the Didact? Actually use your brain and stop being a dip-blam!-.

Mercy wasn't even really an antagonist. He was just Truth's henchmen who existed wholly within cutscenes and never acted against the player. And the Elite from Halo Wars? How did you even remember that *character,* let alone his overlong name that was never said in dialogue?

Also, Gravemind wasn't a "religious racist," though he was technically building his own master race and worshiped himself. Actually, sure, religious racists, the lot of them.

No you were being stupid. You know his motives. You know the lore. It wasnt complicated. He even goes on to explain his reasons for 2 minutes at the epilogue. He wasnt even an antagonist at first.

Yeah, he is a Forerunner supremacist. That is it.

yeah, he wasn't just generically evil, he was a genocidal racist!

whatever.

You know yet you cry about his motives not making sense?

...

Yeah in the grand scheme of things in the Halo lore they don't. He knows about the Precursors and their villainous ways and their use of the Flood to test humanity. He tried Making Knights out of humans 100,000 years ago to combat the Flood and it failed miserably.

He thinks doing the same thing twice will work. It won't and his crippling failure proves it. It's pretty pathetic you care so much about what I personally think about the Didact.

Speaking of chuckles, let's all lol at IonicPaul, who makes friends with bugs to make up for his lack of human contact.

Truth was an evil character, for sure, deluded by power, but there was reasoning behind his madness. I've said this before. He is definitely the most interesting enemy of all the games.

I agree, it was a joy to watch his power trip into madness spread across the novels and games.

really? i would've gone with the million year-old parasite-creature made of trillions of corpses and consciousnesses acting as one.

Gravemind wasn't bad, but there was something more, personal, about Truth if that makes sense.

I'm not saying that this makes all the other villains bad. I love the Gravemind, his poetics, his temporary changing of sides to benefit himself (the bridge on the Covenant, in Halo 3). The Flood is certainly a great villain, with a valid motive, but when your entire modus operandi can be summed up in two words (Consume everything), you can be overshadowed by more... human characters, such as the Prophet of Truth.

maybe in terms of how truth was developed in the books. gravemind is interesting, but he was never really explored in anything he was in.

343 GS beats both of them because you don't have to read a book to *get* his motivations and he isn't just an evil jackass.

Truth, because of his awesome voice.
Halo 2 Truth > Halo 3 Truth

OT: Tartaraus

I agree, Halo 2 Truth was a LOT better than Halo 3's.

"The Great Journey waits for no one, my brother. Not even you..."

So cold.

And another one: "There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?"

Also, hearing him over the loudspeaker during the mission High Charity just made it so epic!

Indeed. I agree Michael Wincott did an exemplary job on Truth in Halo 2. Unfortunately, he made the character sound too much like a scheming megalomaniac rather than a deluded old fool, which is why Bungie went with Terrence Stamp in H3.

I disagree that Guilty Spark beats them, but he is, again, another interesting villain, especially as the games progress.

Again, at the end of the day, I'm looking at overall, which includes the books, and looking at the books, Truth is by far the most interesting.
