If a man is not willing to die for something then he is unfit to live.

His impact isn't yet known at the moment. Yes, people are listening to him but down the line let's see who actually says that he was an inspiration to them. Jimi Hendrix had a bigger impact than Skillrex in the short time he was on this earth.

Thats pretty bad putting skillrex in the same anything with Jimi. Skillrex will be forgetten like almost every other big name in music since this gen seems to have A.D.D.

I think people are missing the point of this thread.

OT: Im not a huge fan of Skrillex, but he has gained massive popularity and really changed the music industry, no doubt about that.

No he didn't. Anytime a dubstep song is relelsed it doesn't shoot stright to number one. Look lets see if he has something called staying power and if 40 years people still listen to him and call him great.

I had a very similar thing, only I threw a 14 story building out of a pool and hit a kid on a paper aeroplane.

The Flood is just this awesome :D

Because he has to make the actual music. Dubstep has many layers that are all written by one guy, I would say that's harder than writing 4 different layers in a song to fit a band for guitar, bass, drums, and singer.

Skrillex has changed the music industry, you can't deny that. Notice how dubstep and other electronic songs are now dominating the market than rock/pop that used to dominate a few years ago?

Dubstep songs dont go straight to the top, but he did help jump start the dubstep culture in the U.S.

Antel, or Concortion. Either way, I'd like to think I'm a nice guy who is nice to people.

Wow. This thread just refuses to die. I'm giggling like a schoolgirl. This is hilarious.

Also, OP did a wonderful job.

ME2 was known for stupidity and being retarded

The name Skrillex always sounded like a flavored bread crumb-style coating for chicken and pork.

Would you say that you were a fan of Skrillex before he was cool, and that he's too mainstream now?
I liked some of his first music, but he's just being too generic now he knows most of his fans will support him without knowing he's being lazy. It's not as simple as "I liked him before he was popular, now I don't because he's mainstream".

No, it actually is that simple. You liked his stuff before he did whatever he did to become as popular as he is now. Confirmed hipster.
Right...

Because disliking one single artist "just" for "becoming popular" = hipster? Wow, you people...

I didnt say anything will last, I said Skrillex helped expand a Sub-culture that is now VERY large and he is only a small fraction of. Not many other artists from other genres can say that.

It's harder than you think, those touchpads for the mouse on a laptop are small. It takes laser-like precision and deft hands.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

People think this is a joke, but it really isn't. Primo has a point.

Skrillex essentially invented dubstep, whereas the Beatles continued the long line of pre-existing pop/rock music.

He will go down as the more important musician.

  • 01.01.2013 2:55 AM PDT

I never liked the Beetles.

Remember, grammar is the difference between; "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse." And "I helped my uncle jack off a horse."
Hyperlinks, you know you want to click 'em

I'm a little late to the party but... The Beatles suck anyway so... And even if that was a 100% irrefutable fact, Rusty Cooley would still be the best musician of all time in my book.
