Any part of the reticule has to be on the player in order to get the kill while in Halo 2 it didn't.
Your reticule doesn't have to be red in Halo 4.

I thought we were comparing Reach and Halo 2.

God, Reach is such a good game...I honestly might go back to it. Anyone know what the population for it is?

Sort of ashamed to say this, but I started with 2. I thought the game was garbage, and I couldn't understand where all the hype came from.

Then I played CE, and everything came to me.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

I am not sure. I stopped playing Halo 4 after the first week. If this is correct then -blam!- Halo 4.

The population is frozen so I don't know but you can still find a game quickly.

A) Only with the BR and Sniper because those weapons were sort of made to appease Halo 2 fans

B) DMR and LR are probably the most skillful precision weapons since the CE pistol

It is true, but it isn't as bad as Halo 2's AA. Though the only thing that made Halo 2's AA not so bad is how higher level players would use button combos.

No, as I couldn't give a -blam!- about post Halo CE competitive multiplayer, but in practice I find that the skill gap between a good and bad DMR user is a lot higher than the one in the other lolpostHaloCEmultiplayer precision weapons

Why Bungie, why would you do this?! - Halo Community

Posted by: TH3_AV3NG3R

Anyways, I am saying it still isn't the same as Halo 2's. Any part of the reticule has to be on the player in order to get the kill while in Halo 2 it didn't.

And that was a problem with Halo 2. Keep in mind Xbox Live back then wasn't everything it is now as well. The netcoding on all games back then were "mediocre" at best, and that H4 has about 8 extra years of technical backing and an upgraded platform on Halo 2. Not justifying the Auto-Aim, but merely explaining it.

Most of H2's "problems" involved glitches and heavy netcode compensation. Meanwhile, H4 and Reach had the chance to be amazing games, but they weigh themselves down with countless balancing issues.

Which is why that auto aim and bullet magnetism existed on LAN too right? Bungie always intended to casualise Halo 2 in order to appeal to a larger amount of people and get the franchise going. Stop trying to make excuses for it.

Also you people need to stop trying to change the subject to other games whenever people challenge your beliefs with evidence to support them.

I was never trying to make excuses, if you even read my post. Of course they were appealing to a casual audience, who said they weren't? And making the LAN different would be far too difficult. It would require changing the hardcode of the engine and then keeping this entire engine around in the memory.

You know my last post was going to be the one before this in this thread but you want to keep going. Do not start with the balancing issue. Don't even dare start with that. Anyone who had played Halo 2 pre-TU would understand the problems it had.

- Was I supposed to use my mind reading machine to know this?
- Not going into it, heh? Because it was balanced?
- I played pre-TU Halo 2, and it was pretty bad, though Reach pre-TU was filled with an equal amount of frustration and BS.

All in all, I felt Halo 2 was a good game, and the simplicity and "FAIRNESS" of the game is what drove people toward it, not constant BS that is in Halo Reach and 4.

No, I'm just a person who voiced his thoughts.

And it's pretty much an absolute fact that the core gunplay in 4's is far better than Halo 2's.

Yeah, makes sense considering how post TU Halo 2 still didn't fix 80% of the problems

I am fine with that if your information about AA in Halo 4 was correct. As for the core gunplay being better in Halo 4 than it was in Halo 2 that isn't hard to accomplish. Honestly if it wasn't I would question immensely where the millions of dollars went and the innovations that went on in Halo 3 went. Simply put though to compare Halo 4's multiplayer to Halo 2's says a lot more about the game than I think the people that use that argument realize. If you need to compare a modern game to a game that came out 8 years ago with a rushed multiplayer in order to say it is in any way good for a Halo game that must mean it is -blam!-. Then the worst part is you have people like the OP that think they know what they are talking about just because they played the game making threads like this even though this topic has been discussed thousands of times over the years.

  • 12.23.2012 12:56 PM PDT

I played Halo 2 AFTER Halo 3. I was someone who got Halo 3 with my Xbox, and then played the series backwards.

I found the Campaign Story and Multiplayer Maps far better than Halo 3's, but I think gameplay was more solid in Halo 3.

A) Okay, I'll admit I was uninformed about the subject matter. My apologies.

B) Halo 4's core gunplay is still arguably better than Halo 3 and Reach (not ZBNS Reach though). It's consistent (no spread or bloom) and movement is quite well done.

I disagree there are multiple glitches/exploits in Halo 4 due to the poor programming on 343's part. As for no bloom/spread that really doesn't matter all too much in terms of improving/taking away for the gameplay. The same can be said about movement it has been roughly the same since Halo 3 to Halo 4 with the only main difference being faster or slower. The thing is there is more to gameplay than just 2 aspects.

How would you like me to say it when I am calling you that? I am just joking.

I am not saying you have to hate it. I am not saying you can't love it. All I am saying is, for me, the game is not the pinnicle of Halo. I do thank for it for springing up infection and other game modes to be in Halo 3 and Halo reach's custom modes. That game pretty much started those modes.
