Leave us standing upon the heights
What was before, we see once more
Our kingdom a distant light.

Just saw The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and it was awesome! Although I was slightly disappointed that it wasn't as accurate to the book as I remember, especially the riddles in the dark part. But the ending was amazing, can't wait for The Desolation of Smaug!

Discuss what you liked and disliked about the Hobbit.

Pure Insanity
The point of war is not to die for one's clan, but it's to make the other bastard die for his
Right before you die, there is always a chance to save yourself, sieze that chance and live to fight another day
The best way to kill someone is to fight them with the same weapons they use and make them know you are better than them, not because of superior weaponry, but because of superior skill.

Subtle.

OT: I enjoyed the film quite a bit, the Riddles in the dark segment was easily my favorite part.

The necromancer part wasn't in the book, it was added on.

And yes, film is 9/10.

I'm in a pissy mood, no need for subtlety.

I saw it last night, I very much enjoyed the environments, I can't wait till we make it back to those Dwarvern halls in the Lonely Mountain.

Oddly enough I can't remember what happens in the book after the spiders. Something about barrels? Weird.

Just an Average Joe...

I thought it was amazing. Definitely can't wait for the next two.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Disliked:
-CGI ruining any tension or drama of scenes but for Riddles in the Dark
-Lack of a central conflict
-Lack of a protagonist
-Lack of focus

Liked:
-The movie

The Wonderful LeSieg!

I liked the Hobbit, but it really needs less action. If Peter Jackson wants to make three movies, there are better ways to expand the book than to simply just add violence and violent sub-plots. That's hardly in the spirit of the book.

Overall, I am excited for the second part, and confused as to what the third would even be.

Find wood elves, escape in wine barrels down the river.
