It won't be awkward for them.
They'll think "Oh good, he's not -blam!--blam!-" and that's it.
They'll put on a surprise face for maybe five minutes and then forget about it. In fact, you'll probably make them happy that you clearly aren't incapable of social interaction with the opposite gender. Thing is, they've already met her.
At the beginning of this month, before we both shared our feelings for each other, and we were just friends, she was at the hospital for the birth of her brother, and I was at the hospital because my grandfather was rushed into a nearly fatal surgery.
She wanted to hang out, so I went out to the parking garage to sit in my car and she was going to come out and sit with me. On the way to my car, she ran into my parents (not knowing they were my parents), and they talked about how she was going to hang out with a friend, and my parents told her that they had a son that was out there right now, and then she told them that she was going to hang out with their son.
Later when I talked to my mom about it, she said something like "I think she'd be a good friend for you to have."
They haven't asked or said anything about her since.
