Subject: Is there a single video game franchise...

I like shorts. They're comfy and easy to wear.

Mario Kart, up until the Wii version.

What about the 3DS version?

I was going to say Portal and the Arkham series, then I remembered that both sequels were inferior to their predecessors. I guess Borderlands?

I can't speak for the Arkham series, but I much preferred Portal 2 to the first game. The story was better with more interesting characters who got a great deal of development - Wheatley, Cave Johnson and GLaDOS/Caroline were pulled off beautifully. The gameplay had more variety with the various gels, and there were some truly memorable moments, especially the ending.

Portal 2 is how a sequel should be made IMO.

Portal 2 wasn't bad at all. It just wasn't as good. Here. This pretty much sums up how I felt when playing Portal 2, except he's funnier.

That's fair enough I guess, I personally got more out of Portal 2 than I did with the original (I -blam!- love Yahtzee's reviews, even if I disagree with them).

I loved Portal 2. It just didn't quite hit me the same, I guess. Yay for opinions!

I would say Metal Gear, but MGS4 was nowhere near MGS3's quality. Hopefully, Ground Zeroes will be amazing.

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

I understand that Far Cry 3 is better than 2.

  • 12.23.2012 12:56 PM PDT

The Elder Scrolls and Fallout Series (Including New Vegas.). Mostly for the fact of the Extensive modding community.

What's more to say but i live day by day. Never forgetting that my impact on the world isn't that important. Always waiting for the end of the day. Night is the most important. Welcome to my world you will find that the sun is unimportant.

Just cause

A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal.

And from FOX, two phantoms were born.

How many games do we need to constitute a franchise? I'd say at least three or more, two isn't really a franchise. That in mind, Dragon Ball Z Budokai series got better and better to its end at 3.

Budokai is more of a rollercoaster of improving and decreasing quality.

MGS seems to be improving, now it has that sexy ass FOX engine

Kid Icarus, but since there's only two games in that series, that isn't saying much

Really? The first was easily the clunkiest fighter of the three, and the third was one of the best fighters there's been, which leaves the second to fall neatly in between.

Halo, as much as no one likes to admit it.

Then uhh... Assassin's Creed? AC3 wasn't the most liked AC game but it sure as hell tried to be a worthy sequel as much as AC2 did; which is saying a lot, just with varying hits and misses.

Also Borderlands fo' sure.

And Guild Wars.

And Darksiders.

And blah blah blah.

I'm pretty sure that's sarcasm, but actually... that's true! Dynasty Warriors 7 generally hit the best reviews DW had received in a long time. And speaking as a long time DW fan, I probably haven't had a DW game that good since just 2 or 3. You played DW7?

Conker's Bad Fur Day: Live and Reloaded was better than the original.

Hmm probably Starcraft II although the first one was pretty amazing. But Blizzard took their time and produced a solid game.

Elder Scrolls in my opinion.

lol no Daggerfall/Morrowind were the pinnacle of that series, they've only been going downhill since then.
Morrowind was amazing, and Oblivion left me kind of disappointed, but Skyrim has kept my attention for over a year now.

  • 12.23.2012 2:05 PM PDT

I don't know TBH, but I do know of plenty of franchises that aren't getting "worse".

  • 12.23.2012 2:07 PM PDT

The Elder Scrolls may have pinnacled at Morrowind, but it HAS NOT gotten worse since then.

Borderlands 2 was miles better than the original, so I guess using that logic Borderlands 3 will be better than 2.

The GTA series hasn't bunked out yet, so I'd say GTA V will continue that good trend.

The Fallout series, IMO.

That's about all.

I agree, although the second one had that game board interface which was strange, but the combat was definitely made better.

Borderlands 2 was a huge improvement of an already great game. Only time will tell if they can pull something like that off with BL3.
