Just remember... I keep it real...

Okay, I know that there are other places I should have posted this, but oh well. Halo 3 probably will NOT have any multiplayer bots to play with. Why you might be asking... because of one obvious reason. Xbox Live. Halo 2 was set out to be made into a must have for any Xbox owner, with a killer online. Microsoft made a game (yes I know Bungie made the game, but look who owns Bungie) that would send people flying to buy Xbox Live and all of its accessories. People want more then 4-player split-screen or co-op. They want more then four people playing in a single game. Yes, bots aren’t as good as online. But knowing Microsoft, if someone was content with only having bots to play with, then that would be one less Xbox Live account and less money in the pocket. Microsoft doesn't do anything without some green in mind (money for stupid people). Why do you think Halo 2 was chopped and rushed, Microsoft wanted a killer Xbox 360 game that would drive sales up. Just imagine, if there was 15 multiplayer bots in one game, then that would be 16 less Xbox Live accounts. Do you have any idea why there is ALWAYS someone paying Halo 2, because they want to play against someone else. "Let’s see, if there aren’t any bots, then I must get Xbox Live so I can play others..." Microsoft gets another $50 and some accessory money. I know other Xbox Live enabled games have bots, but Halo 2 wasn't designed to be like any other game. Microsoft knew it would sell, so they exploited every opportunity in the design plan. I personally, was surprised that there were no bots. I always thought that there would be. When I first played... I was like... "Now what?" expecting to see some bots running around. Now guess what, I play on Xbox Live and I fell victim to the trap. Giving money each year. Halo 3 will meet the same fate. Microsoft knows Halo 3 will be a killer, remember when Bill Gates set the release date back then to the PS3 release date. One HUGE game, against a new console. I highly bet that Microsoft has already been thinking of some new ways they can sell items for Xbox Live for Halo 3 so they can get even more money. Think about it. With bots, at least one person might decide not to get Xbox Live. That's one $50 a year account, one $20-30 headset, and one $??? camera that might not sell. I personally wouldn’t mind having bots, you just have to get over it. It will not happen. If you want AI, then play campaign.

Sigh.

Bots would be for people without Xbox Live so they at least could have some fun. The only reason i play campaign is because of the story, not really because it's any fun.

Bots = Less Active Xbox live Accounts?

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Have you played any games that have bots? Perfect Dark Zero, Star Wars Battlefront?

Bots are a great addition to multiplayer and they can make it possible to have sixty "people" on a single map. You don't have to worry about the additional bandwidth so much since bots don't have to be refreshed as much and, in the event there's some confusion over show shot first the game will always choose the player over the bot.

And people could get a premium, but there subscription may end, They may not afford a good internet service, etc. Bots would make up for that.

Just remember... I keep it real...

you don't have to talk to me about that stuff. I wish there were bots. But honetly, I have the slowest form of DSL, 256 kbps. I don't have an Xbox. If I jsut bought an Xbox, and Halo 2 had bots. I probably wouldn't get Live. I don't want to upgrade because of the cost and I don't want to pay for the service if it is going to be slow. So if there were bots, I would not go Live. But since it doesn't have them, I go to a friend's house who does have Live and they pay for the serivce and accessories. Belive me, if it wasn't for the fact that there are not any bots, my friend would not have Live and I would have never had the Xbox Live experience. I am jsut one of many examples of how a lack of bots, meant more Xbox Live accounts.

I'm sorry- but does ANYONE out there even play with bots by themselves on any game? I think bots are such a waste of time. The only way I would want "bots" in Halo 3 is if it's you and 4 dudes against a TON of bots, a la Ghost Recon or something like that. I don't know why people without Live can't just game together in their living rooms, like the good old days.

Bots would be for people who didn't have Live, for whatever reason, they couldn't afford it, they don't have a high speed internet connection or whatever. it gives them the ability to play and have fun. i think the possibilities of there being bots is maybe 50/50

Think about it. If there wern't any bots, then that would encourage some people to purchase Xbox Live, and that is what Microsoft wants. They are attempting to have a much stronger Xbox live fan base then their compeditors, and they arn't going to slow that down to help the people without Xbox Live.

Amen to that! I have played counterstrike since version 1.3 and NEVER HAVE I PLAYED A GAME WITH BOTS IN IT. BOTS ARE NOT FUN TO PLAY AGAINST. I have also played Perfect dark zero and Quake 3 for the pc. I always quit if there are bots. Unless it is a few freinds against 40 or so bots. Playing bots is not fun because you dont get the feeling you beat someone and they dont have the feeling of loss. It is an empty victory and it gets boring after about 2 weeks. x-box live never gets boring as it is people you can interact with across a nation. encouraging live play is like encouraging a good community among the players. It unites ideas and gameplay. Bots = the enemy

IF there was bots in Halo 2, it would be a great reason again to have friends over, if you have ever played Time Splitters: Future Perfect we usually had fun by setting up a MP game with us against a team of bots. I'm hoping Halo 3 will follow the example that Time Splitters set up.

Quicksilver,

Gaming does't necessarily require high bandwidth. The amount of information used to relay a vector isn't all that much. What is more a worry is latency, the amount of time it takes a packet of information to get from the host to you.

I'd be more worried about bullets then bots. Each bullet in Halo is a "bot", a bot that moves across the map and collides with a person and thus inflicts damage. That's why if you pay attention you'll notice that the turrets don't really fire all that fast, they just inflict a hell of a lot of damage.

they could offer it as a microtransaction, like:

Halo 3 dowloads:
AI Bots:
Easy (150 points each
Normal (300 points each
Heroic (500 points each
Legendary (1000 points each)

This would add green, and would make bots feasible. Pricing is a little off though.

Thats pretty sad, considering the fact that they rushed halo 2, instead of making it an awesome and contained better quality than the halo 2 that was released. Halo 2 is a great game... but i felt it could of been so much better. Instead, Microsoft rused halo 2 and got a lot of $$. In a way, that was smart, just hope that they dont this with halo 3... Think about it ppl. Bungie created halo 1 in a year, and I believe that bungie created halo 2 in 9 months...If it took bungie three years to make halo 2... thats sad.. sorry to say, but sad. Lets say the game took 9 months to make. Look at the quality that these two games were with the time frame bungie had, and the cash they made. If M$ is smart and becomes more like blizzard entertainment (dont sell the game until they feel its an incredible game), and let bungie develop halo 3 with the time bungie needs, this game will kick some serious ass and thus give Microsoft even more money, but mainly, pleasing ALL the halo fans, casual, hardcore. I just want the game to be made into the fullest potential.. no more "if's" or "buts" for bungie this time. At least, I hope.

We've been here since you left.
We left before you came.

Everyone knows that theres no bots in Halo just because Microsoft is greedy and wants everyone to get XBL.

That sucks this is why everybody will regret rushing to get Halo 3 just like they did for Halo 2!!!

Down, down to hell and say that I sent you there...

I came into the world with my legs forward and a woman cried "he was born with teeth!"

"I had no father I am like my father...I had no brother I am like my brother...And this word, "love" which old farts call divine be resident in men like you -blam!-. But not in me, I am my mother-blam!- self, alone."

You Are an Idiot

The largest mass of text I've ever seen. USE PARAGRAPH BREAKS!

And if you played PDZ...you would know that bots work in a multiplayer dominated game. So please, stfu.
