Subject: Page Wrap

I have noticed over the years that in threads where a discussion is occurring, quite often people will make a significant post, only to have it be the final post on a page, and have it, for the most part, overlooked.

Would anyone else favor the idea of having a page wrap, where either the final one, or two posts of a page would wrap on to the next page as well? That way, people would not easily miss them.

Just an idea I had, and I thought I would throw it out there to see what people thought of it.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

Umm...sure why not?

Not a bad idea I guess.

Then the third to last post on a page will be overlooked.

That would be cool.

Yeah, I often count the last post of a page as a filler because it will only get seen for the time until the next post.

I think you misunderstood. The final post would not be removed from the page, it would merely show up on the next page as well. The reason that the final post gets overlooked is because quite often people will tab to the last page in a thread, and respond to the most recent posts visible on that page. As the final post only is seen on that final page until someone makes one more single post. It does not have much chance to be seen and responded to. The posts preceding the last have a longer time to be seen and responded to by more people. Therefore the "third to last post" would not be affected in any way by this change.

The 24th post in a thread is the heel in a loaf of bread, no one wants it!

Like I said, the final post would not be removed from the page, and a new page still would not be created until a new post is made following a full page of 25 new posts.

Disagreed.

Posts just need the ability to be floated above other posts.

Lets disregard pages in general and just have on massive flowing page.

  • 12.23.2012 6:34 PM PDT

Break down, every single one of you.

It is not a bad idea, but I do not think it is necessary either.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...

If we used a Post Buoyancy system properly the significant posts would 'rise' to the first page.

I think I was deciding between writing "need the ability" and "need to have the ability" and then merged the two without looking.

I would also like to be able to affect the ballasts used by filling them to whatever level I want.

All of my plsno.
It would just end up being a buch of 'funny' irrelevant at the top, and all the relevant posts would be ignored at the bottom.

Which is why I included the word 'properly'.

That system would never work.

the only problem i have with mine is that it's unstable,[very shakey],so you'd need a tripod for it.

Just drink a beer and everything will be ok

There should be a like/dislike system such that:

The standard alpha value of all posts is .5
For every like, it goes +.1, to a max of 1
For every dislike, it goes down, to a min of .1

Then, you can only see good posts. Bad ones simply disappear.

Such would be abused unless it's exclusive to privileged users.
