How interesting, 2 countries that want the Taliban out of the picture now want to use them as an asset, it's amazing how things can quickly change despite past events.

I like to play Reach for fun. I hate MLG, campers, armor lock, and team killers because they ruin that fun. Deal with it.

Government supported terrorists? Oh boy!

I think the OP is misconstruing the title here: They want the Taliban to cease acting like a military body and instead express their opinions through the political process like any other political party. Which is a step up......still, I wouldn't want the Taliban in power anywhere, as a military force or political party.

That was understood loud and clear, I rolled my eyes at the odds of this succeeding.

I don't even know why we sent troops there in the first place. It's truly a shame that as of now, nearly 3,000 American troops (and hundreds of Allied troops) have been killed. And all for what? That place is never going to change. It's worthless. It just makes me angry at Bush.

Another withdrawal is set to take place soon.

You said that these two countries want to use them as an asset. I don't see the article supporting that view anywhere.

What purpose could a group of radical militants serve? If it's just to make peace then fine, otherwise I'm a bit concerned. Give me a moment here.

Okay, I re-read the article and jumped the gun a bit. I redact earlier statement.

The concern now shifts to these conditions, conditions I wish were noted in the article.

Because this thing called "9/11" happened, and Americans cried for blood. As we knew Osama operated out of Afghanistan, and Al-Quieda had multiple terrorist cells in the country backed by the Taliban, we went there, to do as America pleaded. After we pounded AQ and Tali into the dirt, we set about trying to restore the country so that terrorist cells wouldn't be able to find a home in Afghanistan again, very similar to the Cold War where to stop communism we'd go in and establish a democracy.

For those who don't understand, look up vietnamization(spelling?), they're pretty close.
