I carry a pistol on me often and never intend to use it unless I have to do so to protect the liberty of myself or another. Once Australia banned guns though it became a lot more crime-ridden... Because the responsible citizens can not defend themselves anymore and it gives criminals peace of mind knowing they're less likely to encounter serious resistance.

First, 12 year olds can't carry pistols legally.

Second, guns aren't banned here.

Third, Australia isn't crime-ridden?

Well there goes your argument's integrity out the window.

You haven't proven anything. You've repeated your adolescent grade views over and over but provided nothing to back up any of them.

'Psychological issues' aside, if fattening foods were in short supply there would be significantly less obese people. Again your narrow mindedness is showing; I never blamed McDonalds or any fast food for people's lack of willpower, but they are definitely part of the problem or people wouldn't be obese.

Your shower comment is so dumb I'm not going to bother addressing it, apart from this sentence saying how completely contrived and moronic it is.

If you want to be taken seriously, don't grasp at straws for arguments. We're done here.

Plenty has been provided to back it up, you just fail to listen to it. This article was posted in this very thread, which you ignored. http://winteryknight.wordpress.com/2011/10/05/crime-rates-in-c hicago-and-dc-drop-after-gun-control-laws-are-struck-down/

Delete the space if there is one, this site is crappy about that.

And just because they might not be as fat does not at all mean they are going to be any healthier. That is what you have failed to realize.

Because you don't want to admit you're wrong and I'm right about how insignificant and rare these things really are when you ignore the mass fear the media loves to ram down our throats.

If you want to be taken seriously, don't cowardly run from an argument and back your claims up. We'll see if you keep your word, though.

You know what I meant.

Crime increased after guns were regulated more.

Nope, not after I pointed out your silly attempts to put words in my mouth.

Boy, I sure am glad for the right to bear arms. Makes me feel safe.

/sarcasm

Sure made this woman safe. If one armed citizen had been there this could have been stopped, if there weren't so many gun regulations more people would carry in public and be able to act against criminals.
Self defeating post. If more people carried in public there would be more shootings.

slippery slope, invalid form of argumentation

And you now lost all credibility by lying. I thought we were "done here?" I hope if your neighbors possess firearms they will refuse to aid you if your home is invaded out of respect for your beliefs.

Banning guns will obviously make getting a firearm much harder for the criminal. Progressively the shooting will stop. Stop being biased.

IDIOT! HAHAHA! Criminals don't obtain guns legally. And if the shootings did stop we'd just see huge increases in stabbings.
Would you rather be in a room full of people with a criminal armed with a gun, or a knife? I'd take the knife.

And where do you think a bulk of these illegally obtained guns come from? They come from gun owners who obtained them legally. Banning the sales of guns would certainly reduce the chances of criminals getting them from the first place. While it doesn't solve the problem, it reduces the chances of you being shot in the future.

I don't see the big fuss to why people are opposed of this idea.

I'd rather have a gun so I can ensure my safety. A gun gives everyone a voice, imagine an old woman trying to fend off a knife attack by hand. Now place a gun in her hands.

and then you just become part of the problem, and it isn't your fault, it's logical to want that kind of defense. but the only reason criminals are able to illegally acquire guns so easily is because they are readily available to the public in america.

say you have a lottery machine full of 99 yellow balls and one red one. the chances of the red one being picked is 1 in 100 obviously. now match the number of yellow balls with red balls, and suddenly your chances of getting a red are much higher. the black market for guns in america is being fuelled by gun saturation due to them being legal.

Your 'beliefs' mean less than dick to me.

One thing that does need to go up is gun owner accountability. It seems all too often that when one of these shootings occurs, the weapon was 'lost' or 'stolen' from it's owner, and amazingly it ended up in the hands of someone they knew, like a family member.

Whenever a scenario like that unfolds, the registered owner of the weapon should receive identical charges to that of the murderer themselves. Maybe a little extreme, but it would get the point across real fast that control is a necessity when you own guns.

But outright banning guns is absolutely ridiculous. All that does is cripple the average citizen's ability to defend themselves from criminals who have other, illegal means of obtaining these weapons.

Depends on how you look at it, I'd call it a solution because guns aren't a problem, sick people are, and they will always be around whether or not we have guns.

That doesn't automatically make that a bad thing. Guns can deter a crime from ever happening in the first place, just look at Kennesaw since it REQUIRED all heads of household to have a firearm and ammunition. I'm not saying I support forcing gun ownership, though, that is absurd. I wouldn't want anyone fearful of guns or uncomfortable with them to possess.

I like the way you're thinking. There definitely should be stiff penalties for any irresponsibility with a firearm.

No, it doesn't. I have already proven to you how it can reduce all crime and murder rates. Please, prove your side now.

HAHAHA! No, you just made a completely idiotic argument. The fact is people are fat because they have psychological issues, McDonald's did not make them that way. You show how asinine your views are. You're trying to say McDonald's is RESPONSIBLE for obesity, in a sense, and that makes you naive.

When compared to the fact you're far more likely to be killed from falling in the shower? Yes, it's very rare.

Saw it on television, having trouble finding it online.

I bet you won't see a mass shooting at an NRA convention.

I think the one real flaw in the whole "but how can we defend ourselves if we have no guns" is that mass shootings don't take place in houses. They take place in public. And the only people who carry weapons into the public are those planning to use them, really. You don't see every citizen in the mall turn on the murderer instantly with AK-47s. Children don't wip out rocket launchers from under the desk as soon as someone comes in and starts shooting.

You're so wrong it hurts. You realize that the mall shooting in Oregon was stopped because of a man who was concealed carrying his pistol, right?
