Why is everyone so one-sided? Yo act as if there is no grey. There will always be shootings, sadly. Banning guns is not the solution, but neither is leaving it completely alone. We only control one part of this, the legal part. You aren't going to stop somebody from legally obtaining a weapon. But you can stop a nut-case from legally acquiring one.

Why don't we simply put people through gun training and courses? Or maybe even do mental evaluations before somebody is able to buy a gun? Also, you don't need an automatic weapon to protect your home and family with proper training with single-shot weapons such as pistols or shotguns. There is no reason to own an automatic weapon. To me, a person purchasing an automatic weapon would be screaming, "Hey look, I'm going to shoot up a school."

Please show me how many more people die a year to automatic weapons to semi auto.

How many more? It doesn't matter how many more. This is about saving any life we can. Every life matters. People aren't just statistics as some people seem to think.

Protip: There have only been 2 murders in 75 years with legal fully automatic weapons. The last one was some time in the 80s.
One was done by a police officer that had access to department full auto weapons.

I understand what you're saying, but there is no reason to own them. Think of it as a safeguard. If the guy at Sandy Hook had an automatic weapon, the death toll would be much higher. Also, why did everyone ignore the part of evaluating the mentality of a person beforehand? Or the gun courses? Is it not a good idea?

Automatic weapons are, with few exceptions, completely illegal.

It is not just for home defense.
Do you seriously think you can fend off your military?
Do you seriously think our military is going to go and slaughter their own fellow citizens?
If the military won't attack you, you don't need guns to defend yourself from them. If the military does attack you, your guns will at best mildly delay the inevitable. Either way, there is no point in having guns to defend your freedom against a government.
The military is not the government.

If you feel a powerful need to distinguish between the two, replace the word "government" with "military". I also like the way you quibble over which words are used in an attempt to avoid the fact I have conclusively proven there is no point arming yourself to defend your freedom from a military force.
He is correct about that. What's the most you've done with your weapons, shoot targets?

Defended my home with my fathers gun.

Defended myself and my wife from a mugger wielding a knife trying to rob us in Philadelphia
That's irrelevant. I was asking how much training your average gun owner has with their weapons.

Does it matter? If you believe automatic weapons are more lethal than Semi-auto weapons, you need to be educated.

Automatic weapons registered before May 19th, 1986. Few were, few still exist, and all are owned by private collectors with lots of money. Not the kinds of people who shoot up public places.

Are you referring to autoloading (1 round per trigger pull that loads the next road to wait for the next trigger pull) or automatic (more than one round per trigger pull)?

Yes, he would have.

Yes, please use more tragedies to further your own political agenda because that is all that matters in this world.

I have to go shower as I have a family gathering I'm going to soon. I'm not trying to argue with anyone, and I appreciate how you guys at least respected my opinion.

Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanzaa, etc. Have a good one guys.

Anyways, they're not always expensive. The average full auto Mac 10 costs about $3,000, plus I have the advantage of living in Virginia, which has the most amount of transferable F/A weapons per state at over 30,000 F/A weapons out of the 250,000 or so F/A in the US.

I was at Scheels and saw them myself. o_o Unless they were semi-auto or something. They looked exactly like automatic weapons, though.

They were semi auto. That's what the media call assault weapons, and want to ban because they make the same mistake as you.

FACE AGAINST WALL!
THIS IS THE PROBLEM! THEY ONLY LOOK LIKE THEM! THEY'RE AREN'T FULL AUTO NOR ARE THEY MORE OR LESS LETHAL THAN ONE THAT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ONE!

Edit: I'm sorry about that, I've been on edge lately because of all this stuff and Christmas tomorrow.

I see. Well, thanks for clearing that up for me without being a dick about it. That's hard to find on here.

In this case, I agree with you then. Banning semi-auto or automatics probably would not help.

Trust me, you don't know what you're talking about when referring to my knowledge.

I know the lethality of automatic fire is reduced because it's used typically for suppressive fire.

They're fun as hell and I plan on owning some in the future.

When I said be less rude, I meant don't assume anything about what they know because that makes an ass out of you. And I didn't miss anything with that statement.
