Unsuccessfully trying to bring science and reason to The Flood...

I think that a man firing a woman because he doesn't think he would be able to control himself is pretty moronic. If anything, I think its more of an admission of guilt than anything. It is clear that he really thought about an affair with her.
I'm pretty sure it is illegal here in the Uk to fire someone without proper grounds, and being a good looking woman does not qualify for that.
Okay then, flip it around.
She decides to quit (in order to "protect her marriage from risk") and the employer says "No, you have to stay. We are entitled to your services".
That sounds utterly ridiculous if the situation is reversed. Which is a pretty basic method of looking at something to see if it really is "fair".
I would argue that it is unfair because of the economic climate. If the man fires his assistant, he is sure to find another pretty much straight away. There are always people looking for work. But the woman is now out of a job, and with few going around it is a pretty bad situation for her.
BUT if she leaves of her own volition then that is up to her. She has made that decision to become unemployed. And like I said, the dentist will quickly find another assistant.
