Subject: Do video games require intelligence to do well at

I suck ass at every competetive online game I play. I am an idiotic retard in real life and am starting to think the two may be linked. Do games require a huge amount of intelligence, sharpness and common sense?

I persist too long after my own defeat,
Yet I still press forward, staggering on my feet.
But I know that my resolution will be my end.
And once I fall, I shall ruefully transcend.

No

I am Brosidon, King of the Brocean

Depends on the game.

Some more than others. In many games strategy and predictions can be very important if you want to do well, while some games put more emphasis on reaction times or aim and don't require much thought.

"It is the cruelest fate, to have written words that meant well and see them made wicked and unwise. What was meant to encourage life, used instead to justify taking it."

A small amount of intelligence is needed for shooters, such as planning ahead with "Where will they come from first?" or "Where would the guy with [heavy weapon here] be hiding?".

I guess so, that's probably why I suck because my IQ is probably about 90 something and I have poor judgment and I'm an idiot.

Damn, that's a cold-ass honky.

"He who has the money has the authority; and respect to the man with the Uzi."

You really won't be successful in an RTS game if you're brain dead.

Depends on the game. Competitive online games do require a certain degree of skill (sometimes), but I don't think intelligence is necessary for them, since they usually boil down to shooting at targets or performing simple objectives. For strategy or tactical games though, intelligence is pretty important.

Amount of times I've played RTS games with people who are exactly that.

Sounds like you play too much CoD.

I don't play Call of Duty. My first point applies to a basic shooting game.

Wait a second, people read these?

I love how OP can't respect himself and isn't greatful he was actually born.

Sometimes I am tempted to quit gaming. I can no longer play without seeing ponyphags, horrendously bad teammates and mexicans.

Gaming community, I want you to know that you suck.

You don't have to be smart so much as be not stupid.
