There is nothing dishonorable about giving your life to try and fight your foe. The only dishonorable thing about current extremist suicide bombers is their targetting of civilians, and using civilians as meat shields as they hide amongst them. Otherwise The US is in no position to condemn guerilla tactics against a military force (providing they do not target civilians) as the US has a long history of savage guerilla tactics stemming back from even our revolution. Or did you think that colonial soldiers fighting amongst and in the clothing of civilians in sniper forces was truly conventional.
Honor in warfare was lost long ago with the invention of the longbow, the first weapon that allowed you to kill your opponent without looking into his eyes.
In World War II both sides realized that killing civilians was an excellent idea. Civilians build weapons and ammunition, civilians are trained to become soldiers, civilians being killed puts pressure on the leaders to surrender.
Civilians are, or at least theoretically are, forbidden targets. if the target does not have a weapon, it is not a target.
