I never said it did happen. I say it could have happened. Read things more thoroughly before you post out of your hormone induced urge to seem superior.

That's cute. I like how you need to resort to immature dribble to try to get at me. Has your e-peen inflated large enough yet?

You say this as if you are the mature one. You are the one who insulted me. I am not the one that insulted you.

"Read things more thoroughly before you post out of your hormone induced urge to seem superior".

Right, not an insulting comment at all.

Here's another: How could one archer missile destroy a Covenant warship?

lol

Shields were down.

Shielding isn't the Cruisers only protection, it is also protected by thick armor.

This is a Covenant warship we're talking about, one archer missile cannot take the whole thing out.
And one bomb can't take down a carrier.

Oh wait.........

I'm assuming you're referring to Halo 2?
Anti-matter charge =/= Conventional explosives. And IIRC location/impact of detonation was different.
And IIRC, the ship just detaches several segments, it's not destroyed, just weakened enough to buy them time.

1st: When Chief was knocked out and sucked into the planet, why did he survive that crash from space?

2nd: When chief detonated the nuke, HOW could he live? Cortana couldn't have mustered up a sheild like that in such short time like but it's there! That's impossible and adding on, Cortana is in her final stage of rampancy or should I say clone.

How 343? HOW?

1)Because he's a Spartan II, ever watched the Halo 3 opening scene?

2)She teleported and shielded him from hardlight. How is it impossible? She is a powerful AI that came in contact with Forerunner tech. She can do things that no human can ever imagine to do.

  • 12.24.2012 3:15 PM PDT

Plus how all the S-II's in the prologue are wearing Mark VIs. Prime example of 343 trying to be too hollywood and disregarding canon.

2: The shield was hardLIGHT. It's essentially LIGHT energy that is solidified (compressed photons). That doesn't mean it won't still travel the speed of light. The speed of light is faster than the speed of the explosion. Completely plausible with the most complex AI in the galaxy.
The thing is, nothing about hardlight is explained in game; while i appreciate what 343 tried to do with the EU, but making extensive knowledge of the books required for the plot to make sense ESPECIALLY when the plot point in question could easy have been resolved (make chief throw the damn bomb and show the hard light wrap around him(and actually mention hardlight a few levels back0) is just absurd.

Although hardlight specifically isn't explained in the game, many other things are, including the Forerunner-Human War (at a basic level of understanding). People have to resort to terminals to find out more, which I find a reasonably rewarding experience.

They still do mention hardlight in the description of the Forerunner weapons, if I recall correctly.

Of course the Terminals themselves don't make sense of the Forerunner Saga though.

I realize they left out some vital dialogue from the books and the like, however they most likely wanted to make an abridged version for people who didn't follow the Forerunner Saga, and in so doing, may have decided to discard some parts of it.

I still find Halo 4 piecing together with its Forerunner Saga better than Reach did with Fall of Reach.

Not to mention they still have Silentium, which is coming out next year. It might explain things further.

That was nearly five years after chief entered cryo. The spartan II's in the field would have had their armor upgraded by then. It never actually says that the battle in the prologue was the first time the Covenant invaded. You just assume so because Dr. Halsey is talking about it.

In one scene in the Prologue it shows at most 6 Spartan-IIs and they have MJOLNIR Mk.VI armor that was customized by Cortana. That can never happen in the canon.

For the same reason why the pillar of autumn was depicted as a Marathon class cruiser in Halo 2 instead of a Halcyon class.

If there is a Halo game that really screwed up the canon then it was Halo Reach.

I don't always ban people but when I do I laugh uncontrollably...that's if I was a Forum Ninja.

Truth is a matter of perception.

The Button

One theory is Chief passed out. If you remember he says once the nuke is armed they wont have much time to get away, the screen also fades to white instead of a giant immediate white fireball.

As to how he survived the being sucked into the planet I'll never know.

But Halo: Reach had the Pillar of Autumn depicted as a Halcyon Class Cruiser when Halo 2 did not... :/

...

...

But yeah, for everything else, Halo: Reach screwed up big time.

I was lost after cortana started cloning herself, It literally made no sense to me how a hologram can physically interact with the Didact. I thought holograms were projections...

Cortana's love for the Chief created a tangible aura around her, you know? Love magic.

Read the books.

343i said you wouldn't have to.

A) DecepticonCobra, you and A Dumb Door are probably the only people who legitimately dislike Halo 4's story (and though I don't agree with your views, I respect them) on this entire forum. Everyone else seems to be bandwagon hating the game due to its shortcomings in multiplayer. Just wanted to let you know that you're aces in my books.

B) Yes, 343 did say you wouldn't have to read the books, and that's on them. But I still love how much it rewards longtime fans of the lore (if there are some pretty glaring plotholes, such as the entirety of the whole target locator escapade in the fifth mission).

C) @AK: Books?

It was a nuke.

1) He's survived falls like that before.

2) Cortana teleports him off the ship, and wraps him in a Light shield.

Cortana never customized any armor. Not Chief's, not anybody's.

Chief's new armor is a retcon. According to 343, that was his armor throughout Halo 2 and Halo 3. As for the armor in the prologue, it may be an oversight, or it could very well be a retcon as well.
