As for the armor in the prologue, it may be an oversight, or it could very well be a retcon as well.

Well then, I guess when 343i says they care about the lore, I'll know they are lying if they feel the need to retcon the canon...even their own.

I was lost after cortana started cloning herself, It literally made no sense to me how a hologram can physically interact with the Didact. I thought holograms were projections...

Cortana's love for the Chief created a tangible aura around her, you know? Love magic.

She was composed of hard light. Notice how she was formed by the Light bridge? Same reason why she could touch Chief at the end.

And AI's can easily clone themselves. Cortana's done it at least once before.

^^Artistic licensing. The physical appearance of the armor matters very little compared to actual things, like story-related events. They changed the look of the Spartan II armor so they would appear more human, and to give them a realistic degree if motion compared to the overly bulky version Bungie used.

No need to overreact.

Here's another: How could one archer missile destroy a Covenant warship?

lol

Shields were down.

Shielding isn't the Cruisers only protection, it is also protected by thick armor.

This is a Covenant warship we're talking about, one archer missile cannot take the whole thing out.

It's a goddamned nuke, when has it ever been said that it was an archer missile?

It's a hyperion nuke for -blam!-s sake, pay attention please.

What the hell is a "hyperion nuke"

I've never even heard of it before in the books.

A while ago, 343 gave us some stats on the FUD and infinity weapons. It stated the FUD had hyperion class nukes. If you play the first level then you can read the words "hyperion" on one of the primed nukes.

And as far as 343i retconing MJOLNIR Mk.VI to what Chief has in Halo 4...why include a separate MK.VI armor that looks like it did in Halo 2/3 in mutliplayer?

The original mark VI can't be retconned as it's original helmet is usable in matchmaking. And Chiefs armor is said to be a modified mark VI.

Many won't like it but i think nano bots were used on the Chief's armor.

I'm down for that explanation, it at least makes a semblance of sense.

Hard light is apparently the cop out for the nuke question, and for the crash into the planet, used his gel layer or whatever like he used in Halo 3.

Everything?

It's funny people are complaining about the implications of hardlight now, and yet in Halo CE when Chief retrieved the Index with his hands as a solid object which Spark then digitized, nobody cared.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

It's not a plothole if it simply leaves the gamer guessing or theorizing on their own.

A plothole is something that overrides previously written canon. I.E. all of Halo: Reach.

No, but when it fails to make a single ounce of sense, that's when it's a plothole.

No, that would simply make it confusing. We have two more novels and two more games in this trilogy alone. We are not supposed to have all of the answers.

Halo 4 is the first of three. So it is supposed to set the table but, to be a giant Halo nerd, "We're just getting started."

Which is not good. Making you wonder, yes, that's great, fantastic even, but just defying all sense is not.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked Halo 4's narrative, and I'm even making an analysis for the story as we speak. It's just there are some glaring plotholes and retcons that are genuine flaws within the story.

The Master Chief used The Force to guide the missile into the ship's reactor.

Leave questions, yes, but each game and book should be self-contained and not HAVE to rely on one another to make their own stories make sense.

The plotholes really are not as bad as people are making them seem. Plus, many people who claim the story is messed up are filling in for variables they do not know. Like I said, it's important to realize that we know 1/3 of the storyline.

Unlike Reach, where we knew the story but Bungie chose to make their own (lame and anti-climactic) narrative to it. Yet people ran up and down swearing the book and the game could co-exist in the same universe.

Halo 4 has fewer plotholes and of less magnitude than Reach's narrative but more people complaining about it.

Lastly, a lot of the things that people claim to be "plotholes" aren't even that - they are often times opinions. No disrespect to you, Cobra, but your rant about how the Didact was evil for the sake of being evil didn't really work in any way whatsoever to further your argument that the story was flawed. It was your opinion and nothing more.

Halo 4's main plot is contained...just a couple details aren't directly explained...

It's much better than "Sir...finishing this fight"

Oh I know it really only boils down to what I think. Still though, 343i was hyping up the Didact to be this complex figure and yet it fell flat. It's one of many things about the game's story I didn't like.

This I can agree with. Halo 4 was by no means the canonical travesty that Reach was.

If I ever get AIDS, I'm going to sleep with another AIDS person so my AIDS cancel each other out, or I'm going to make the AIDS I already have worse.

Because 343i doesn't know how to write a story to save their lives.

Artistic license applies to any visual changes. While the nanobot thing may explain the Chief's armor, ultimately it comes down to a different artistic vision for the character.

The SII armor in the prologue was changed because there needed to be a sense of connection between John and the Spartan II's. There's no garantee any of those events in the flashback even happened any way. For example, we know Cortana was not handed to John on a pedestal. The whole flashback sequence was to portray the idea of the Spartans and their heroism, the same way that they needed to visualize John's first meeting with Cortana in a five second clip with no dialogue or exposition. They didn't necessarily have to adhere to strict canonical rules because they weren't real events.

Thus, why traditional Mk. VI still exists, and the SII's have the Mk. VI armor in the flashback.

A parody thread of a troll thread?

God help us...

You're so quick to pull the "Troll" card. How is posting plot holes about the Hobbit (Or Halo 4) a troll thread?

Because all reasonable (and unreasonable) arguments and questions were answered long ago, and yet some people feel the need to bring them back up.
Because everyone on the entire planet was present for the singular debate that was held on the internet for these topics right?

Of course not. But it's trolling if the same answered arguments are being repeated by a single user, as I have seen.
That's not trolling, by your logic you're trolling right now by being a complete idiot.

Valid points, perhaps I just don't care much for it because I don't care for how 343i treats artistic licensing in general. They've played a bit fast and loose with MJOLNIR before. With Forward Unto Dawn and the Fall of Reach comics, they no longer had MJOLNIR be the same armor amongst all the Spartans. Then they make it the same in the Prologue, but it is the Halo 4 armor.

Just frustrating you know?

FUD was during the time where the armor had no shielding and was a lot lighter and sleeker than the current, Fall of reach Chief was using a slight variant of MK IV and well the spartan's armors had different purposed that's why they were different... the prolouge was probably just so it was easier on the artist to draw them all the same.
