Artistic license applies to any visual changes. While the nanobot thing may explain the Chief's armor, ultimately it comes down to a different artistic vision for the character.

Valid points, perhaps I just don't care much for it because I don't care for how 343i treats artistic licensing in general. They've played a bit fast and loose with MJOLNIR before. With Forward Unto Dawn and the Fall of Reach comics, they no longer had MJOLNIR be the same armor amongst all the Spartans. Then they make it the same in the Prologue, but it is the Halo 4 armor.

Just frustrating you know?

I can understand the argument I suppose, but I don't agree with it simply because I can look at him and still tell he's the Chief. Artistic interpretaions of a character don't mean anything to the story, and effect absolutely no one, so I'm not bothered by them if I can still recognize them.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Well I'd say the inconsistency of the armor being the same is a bit of a concern, but at the end of the day I guess I'll just admit it is more of a personal preference.

Plus how all the S-II's in the prologue are wearing Mark VIs. Prime example of 343 trying to be too hollywood and disregarding canon.

That was nearly five years after chief entered cryo. The spartan II's in the field would have had their armor upgraded by then. It never actually says that the battle in the prologue was the first time the Covenant invaded. You just assume so because Dr. Halsey is talking about it.

No it was a plothole. How many active S-IIs do you think were around then? You can count them on nearly one hand, as well as the fact there's no way they'd all be together. Some like Gray team (I think) are on the other side of human space doing behind rebel lines ops. Don't be fooled by the Elite's armour. Sadly, it looks like that stupid re-model is going to stay and in the standard kit (say bye to the memorable shark armour). This means that the scene was meant for nearer to the start of the war.
