No signature found? Well that's odd!

Looking for a decent, cheap computer monitor. I'll be playing games (not super hardcore ones, just things like Arma 2) on it, and viewing videos and general computery stuff.

I don't understand most of the jargon, but obviously some things are better than others.

I'd like it in the 19-21" range ideally.

This is what I've been able to see so far, but I don't know if it's good.

Despite the poor selection I'd personally go to a retail store so you can actually see how good the monitor is.

Hi.

I am assuming direct control.

Asus makes and sells a solid 21.5" 1080p monitor for $120.

Any chance of a link? Sounds interesting.

Proud Spartan II, COG soldier, Hero of time, and crowbar wielding scientist.

Wait, you know monitors just project stuff, while the computer tower runs things, and it doesn't matter what kind you get?

I'm not a professional but some have a varied refresh rate and some have features like 3D support.

Well that's not true.

The higher the resolution, the better it will look, but it won't make the game's graphics any better or make it run faster.
As for suggestions: Just try to find any 1920x1080p monitor, with or without speakers, 3d support, size, etc.

And consult with the official PC thread. They know more than I do.

A good monitor allows the graphics to be shown better but the tower is what makes the graphics. It's like a nerf gun and a wall really, you have a nerf gun (the monitor) and a wall (the tower). Now lets say you want to shoot the gun 50 feet, of course you need a nerf gun that can shoot that far, but first you need a wall that's at least 50 feet away. If your wall (tower) is 20 feet away you're never going to shoot 50 feet no matter how good your gun (monitor) is.

Terrible analogy. I know what a monitor does however. I'm just looking for the right one. I don't think I need a super high res one.

That is actually a perfect analogy. I think you're dumb.
