Since I've been writing a few programs lately (that pull from external databases) and fixing a few computers here and there I've had time to sit back and view several kinds of loading metrics that are used. Some of which made me want to rip my hair out because it felt like an eternity while others I could easily sit back and wait the exact same amount of time, but feel like less time passed.
What do you think is the most effective loading metric representation to make it feel like something is making progress?
