Subject: Why does everyone say the Mass Effect 3 ending was bad?

Ive only just completed the trilogy in quick succession for the first time so maybe its because there wasnt the massive amount of hype that builds up in the years between which the game was released but I thought it was really good with the whole AI pretty much being in control of the destruction of many civilizations as a way to stop machines completely killing of all biological life. And your descision at the end choose whether or not everyone died along with the reapers, lived, synthesised, or just let the cycle continue.

It really brought in a hard decision like whats the point in letting civilization continue if one day it will be killed of permanently by machines?

It put the player in a very hard situation, you had been fighting for this the whole time and then you find out the reapers may have been for the best.

You could also come to your own conclusions for whatever choice you made and it was hard to judge what was the best choice.

And that part when you saw Joker franticaly trying to escape possible certain doom was quite heart wrenching for me.

I honestly thing Bioware got so much flak for a good ending, yes it didn't answer a lot but then you barely get a game that does. Look at Halo 3 it answered almost nothing and you had to read the books to get to grips with what was really going on.

why a murder train?Well, The Blues revolve around trains, and I'm trying to be Blues-y about it.
I think a t-rex sounds better, I mean Murder T-rex. just think about it.
This made my day.

Your choices mean jack -blam!-.

How so? You control whether or not everyone lives, dies or is synthesised or everyone lives and shpeherd dies if you don't get the best ending

Becuase the child and three choices was completely random and made no sense at all. The readiness rating should've decided any ending.

Because it was bad.

Yes, even with the Extended Cut.

Too much "Just figure it out for yourself" left things unconfirmed, interpretation is fair enough but basing your entire ending on it out of nowhere is not, especially when the game up to that point had been brilliant.

NON FACET NOBIS CALCITRARE VESTRUM PERNÇ¢UM

I like the series as a whole, thought ME3 could have ended better. However, my favorite of them all would be ME2. Crazy amount of choices.

Great minds discuss ideas

Average minds discuss events

Small minds discuss people

People just felt it was too short. The games as a whole was great IMO, and the final mission was just amazing. With the huge attachments people had with the universe, the ending felt rushed after all the time invested.

This is the most annoying argument against as you make it seem like the choice was what colour you like best.

I meant the little choices you made throughout the game.

Why ask this question at this point in time? It's been beaten into the ground. As others have said, your decisions end up meaning jack squat.

  • 12.24.2012 6:33 PM PDT

it was so ridiculously anticlimactic. ME3 was great up until the last ten minutes when you meet the goofy AI kid and are given three bogus choices to end the game. the ending cinematic with the Normandy crashing on some random planet made it all the more confusing and unsatisfying. the Extended Cut DLC cleaned it up a little bit but we still should have been given more comprehensive and detailed endings that would validate the decisions we made throughout the trilogy.

...That's basically all it was, with the exception of not choosing anything and letting everyone die.

ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY CHROME.

Didn't you ever wonder just what the -blam!- happened to all of the other alien races?

  • 12.24.2012 6:36 PM PDT

signatures are for fa- wait

As at the end it dumbed down the Reapers by a -blam!- load and the Synthesis ending is SOOOOOO forced

And my favorite ending (Refusal) makes you seem like a -blam!- demon for doing what you been trying to do for the past 3 years

  • 12.24.2012 6:40 PM PDT

I'm only mad that my choices weren't reflected in the ending. And Shepard should have actually lived. I saw a mod video and it showed shepard putting Anderson's name on the wall and then hugging Liara and it gave me that goosebump feeling and made me tear up. Something that the normal ending didn't make me do and that mod ending is the ending in my eyes.

Yes! for crying out loud yes! All of the ME relays blew up and none of the systems that had a relay were wiped out like in the Arrival DLC. HOW IS THAT POSSSSIIBBBBLLLLLLEEEEE!!

This is an incredible step forward to being able to cure Downss sybndonre mn humans bineg.s

Aside from the fact that machines destroying life to prevent machines from destroying life is such a -blam!- absurd premise?

There are a lot of other games with much worse endings such as Halo 3 imo but these games never had as much backlash as Bioware had. I think they recieved so much undeserved negative critismn which really damaged the studios reputation that has made one of the best triliogys in video game history.

That and I just don't think the ending was all that bad

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

That is exactly what I thought in Mass Effect. A machine race destroying all life, to stop the cycle of machines from doing it? WTF?

The ending pissed me off/let me down so much that I haven't touched a single game in the trilogy since and probably won't ever again. And I loved Mass Effect too.

But I suppose that just shows how great the games were before the ending. Bioware fell victim to their own reputation. Unless the only time you had fun was by imagining what would happen at the ending every time you made a desicion.
