Subject: I have an interesting idea for a console

Before we begin, inb4PCmasterrace

This console would work very differently than normal. The console itself would be a small to medium sized device crammed with affordable technology that goes with whatever generation the device is made in. The hard drive itself will be very large, sporting 1 to two terabytes if possible. Cloud Storage will also be possible. All games will be downloaded online onto the memory unit of choice, so as to reduce the production and sale cost of the machine, as well as open up to more possibilities. There will be wired and wireless compatibility for the controller.

Now this is the most interesting idea I have. The console will not hook up to a television screen, and will instead transmit the whole thing to the controller. The controller will be similar to the Wii U's in how it will have a screen on it. The resolution will be at least 720p, and touch screen will be included. Speakers of above average quality will be included. Two analog sticks are included. There will be 8 buttons on it, as opposed to the standard 4. Triggers and bumpers will be included in similar arrangments as the Wii U. Two Dpads utilizing the nintendo style dpad, as this is the best choice(the patent expired in 2005)will be included. The extra buttons and such are there to simplify porting PC games to the console. The battery life will be at least 8 hours, with 15 being a priority. The console will include a charging deck for the controller. A head phone jack is included, along iwth the other minor specs I forgot to mention.

To use the console, all one must do is plug it in, and connect the controller. This is to ensure portability, and to reel in customers who own sub standard or a lack of televisions. Internet will still be needed to download games, but the device will be able to use most wireless or wired hotspots available as long as they are somewhat close. A massive anti malware and hacker software will be included by default for free with purchase.

The price will be a cool 10 percent higher than the production cost. 20 percent if absolutely needed. Maximum 25 percent.

Please provide feedback.

An xBox has a controller, a console unit, and any size screen you can hook it up to.

Your idea seems to have a controller (w/ screen) and a console. That's it. It already loses right there because if someone didn't have a TV why wouldn't they get a PSVIta or 3Ds or whatever else since they don't require a console unit to run.

As for porting pC games to the console, that may become problematic in the years to come since PC games will have higher demands on computer specs and consoles are stuck with the specs they have and can't be upgraded like a PC.

Needs work.

The console unit would provide hard ware no regular mobile device could match. I said that PC games could be ported, not that they would. Texture quality could always be reduced, you know.

So what's the difference between this and a PS Vita? Ya know, besides that the Vita doesn't need to be plugged in... What's the difference between this and a WiiU's 'play from the toilet' concept?

You can plug it in anywhere.

Except where there is no plug.

Places like coffee shops, other friends houses, possibly even work, etc will have plugs.

There is a console that sends the games to the controller, unlike a hand held. It is not like the toilet concept, because all you need to do is plug in the device for it to work.

Then you're on the bus. Whoops! Can't play.
Then you're in a room. Whoops! Outlet's too far.
Then your power goes out at home. Whoops! No power.
You plug it in to a wall on the other side of a walkway. Whoops! Someone rips it out of the socket, and your console soars across the room.

The WiiU has that ability. In fact, it's one of the abilities they market. The WiiU is also a rather small device.

Fair enough. But my other points still have merit.

And what would be the ideal size of the console unit? And how convenient would it be to actually take it somewhere since it is supposed to be portable. Can it or will it hold a charge so it doesn't have to be plugged in to run? How long would the wire be to plug in the console and will it get in the way and just add more things to carry this portable console (so far the console unit, controller w/screen, and a wire)? Will it fit in a laptop bag or similar size bag helping portability?

How big will the controller be if it has a screen? Will it be cumbersome? If the screen size is similar to the pSVita, will it even make a difference if the resolution is in 720p? If the screen is larger, how easy is it to use the controller? Is it heavy?

The wireless will sport an extended reach much farther then what we see today. I'm pretty sure that somebody will see the console before tripping.

So you're risking leaving your console on a table where you can't see it while you're distracted by your game?

The Wii doesn't need a TV. I could do what you're saying with this console.

Amazing idea isn't it? It is almost like the OP doesn't know how the real world works.

1.Small to medium size, similar to an average laptop. Will fit into a backpack nicely.

2.I would include an integrated battery, but the console would cost way too much if I added a comperable battery.

3.The cord that connects the console will be long, flat, and short in height to make things easier to carry.

4.The controller will be the same size as the wii u's with a similarly sized screen. Both the console and controller will be as light and comfortable as possible.

2.
