Subject: There is such thing as fate.

The bible is the best book Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM A PROUD CHRISTIAN. HALO IS AWESOME BUT GOD IS MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!
Did you knew that JESUSdied for you?

So you actually think that you have free will uh? That we shape our own destinies, that fate is so "unscientific" and supersticious well let me prove you wrong.

Answer me this: why nobody is able to escape death?

Death is the ultimate fate of all mortal beings.

Ergo fate does exist.

Death is a natural process and we have yet to implement technology to stave it off.

Just because the sun is, at the rate it is going, to explode in a few billion years doesn't mean we can't stop it. We just don't know how nor have the resources to yet.

Signatures are for little kids.

Whatever.

I guess it's my fate to not care. Whatever happens happens and I'm fine with it.

It is our destiny to come to an end on earth, but what comes before is what we make of it. Life isn't just a machine with one set of programming.

Neither does it prove that we ever will achive immortality and even if we ever do. Everyone before that hypotetical discovery already had their fates sealed.

Becuase thy couldn't stop their deaths

I don't see your proof.

Death is not an argument for fate. Death is the ceasing of biological functions within a living organism. Does a one-celled organism have a "fate" if it is punctured and all of its innards spill out? I think not.

There is no mystical BS involved in death. It is simply the stoppage of organic gears in an organic machine with an organic computer we call the brain.

That's it.

So?

There is a scientific explanation for death...everybody knows that duh!. Doesnt mean it isn't fate.fate doesn't need to be mystical to be fate.

Or can you stop death? (Didn't think so) There is no free will for death, deal with it.

Can you give me proof of fate? All I have seen is you avoiding what ever point you have been trying to make.

As for stopping death, it is certainly possible. You simply need to find a way to maintain the integrity of the cells within the human body. Older cells could also be replaced with younger ones.

There was some things in the news recently about how younger cells were injected into rats (or was it mice?) and their life span was increased by about three times. imagine that on a large scale with humans and multiple routine injections.

Proof for what? That death is the destiny of all mortal beings... Google what"mortal " and " destiny" mean. Google is your friends

I ask you the same post proof of a human being immortal... From a respected source.

You can't call something "possible" until it is achived... Now that is BS. Time travel/cure all illnesses/world peace/ elimination of crime are also "possible" if we go that way... And even if true everyne before that discovery was doomed to die, they never had any free will on the matter.

3 old age isn't the only cuase of death

We must all relieve ourselves at the bathroom at some point, therefore we have fate guiding our future.

Nevermind your futuristic predictions of the toilet becoming unnecessary as medicine and health sciences progress, they are irrelevant. All that is important is that fate exists.

  • 12.24.2012 11:27 PM PDT

You can't call something possible until it is achieved? Tell that to Werner von Braun. He knew space flight was possible from his knowledge of physics and science. After building the V2 rockets, he practically built the US space program from hardly anything.

Me posting proof of a human becoming immortal is like giving you proof in 1950 of the lunar landings. You know it could very well happen based upon what is already known to science, but it hasn't happened yet.

Also, you are right, old age isn't the only cause of death. But isn't getting shot in the head the same thing as dying of old age when it comes down to the definition of death? It is like crashing a car and then having another car sit in water for 50 years. The gears stop turning. Either way the human body is immobile and the brain cells are slowly disintegrating.

Oh, and in case that wasn't what you meant by your statement, let me add more. A person can plan to shoot a specific person. They can also run into a room with a shotgun and fire upon several complete strangers and kill them in a complete coincidence. You can't derive "fate" or "destiny" from that.

Nice parody of him. I might use this sarcastically against the local Lutheran priest in an argument.

  • 12.24.2012 11:29 PM PDT

An eventual end to all things is the ultimate fate, but fate has no control on what happens between two points.

Now that BS then nothing is impossible because it hasn't been "achived yet".

Imortality isn't a reality so deal with it.

Flight was't possible until flying machines were invented. Tell ponce de leon that immortality is "possible" wait you can't ...

Teleportation is also possible under that definition and I call Bs on that.

You know that it's a logical axiom how you can't prove a negative argument right? You can't prove that immortality cannot be achieved. It has nothing to do with the concept of immortality, it just can't be proven due to the rules of logic itself.

  • 12.24.2012 11:37 PM PDT

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Brighten your day with science.

Death is fate?

It's just the inevitable end to our lives. Or how some see it, our lives on Earth.

You don't understand what I am saying.

We can know things are possible before they are done because of what we ALREADY KNOW. That has nothing to do with everything being possible. If I had the knowledge I could give you some sort of extremely long explanation of how the effects of gravity vs the propulsion of burning fuel in a rocket could send an object out of the atmosphere. All I would need for that is the mathematical information, which Werner von Braun would have had before he launched his first rocket into space.

Ok then prove it can be achived.

Another logic rules is that the one that makes the claim has the burden of proof.

Maybe it would help here if we replaced the word 'fate' with 'determinism', and those who aren't familiar with the term have themselves a quick read on wikipedia.
