Specifically, the good old arcade racers. EA butchers Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted (NFS in general) and most racing games don't support split screen any more.

I took the alternative and played Dirt 3, which was some great split-screen fun but it's a rally game.

Where'd they all go?

Remember, grammar is the difference between; "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse." And "I helped my uncle jack off a horse."

Idk, no one really plays them anymore, to busy being sheep and buying every fps that comes out...

I want a Need For Speed Underground 3 because the 2nd one was so awesome and the customization was infinite.

But part of me thinks that EA will make a new Need For Speed and slap the fans in the face once again.

"Apparently people don't like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. If you show them enough times that their arguments are bull-blam!-, then maybe just once, one of them will say, 'Oh! Wait a minute I was wrong.' I live for that happening. Rare, I assure you."-Lemmy of Motorhead

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

It's all about realism now when it comes to racers, as well as graphicall fidelity, weather or not the fame has lasting appeal, fun mechanics or features that incite creativity and a sense of wow, which they almost never do now.

Op, a game called Distance is in the works, check it out, as well as the predessecor to it, Nitronic Rush, which you can get for free.

Your Coup... It's AMAZING!
Anyway, when that Most Wanted remake was announced I was excited, however when I played the demo I was very disappointed. The last racing game I owned was Need For Speed Shift, but there wasn't a lot of people playing it, which I would assume was due to the second one being out.

What did you not like about the latest Hot Pursuit? I really enjoyed it when I had friends on to play it.

Keep in mind I never really got into racers (unless you count Mario Kart). Previous racer experience is as follows:
-Gran Turismo
-Flatout
-Forza Motorsport
-Forza 2
-NFS: Hot Pursuit

I know right? Not only that, but it's the DLC that is killing racing games for me. Take the 2010 Hot Pursuit reboot for example. That game has around 10 or so cars you can buy for extra money. These cars literally break the game and make it pay to win. The multiplayer is a mess. Forza Horizon is a good example too (not arcade, but DLC-wise). It's $60, but a $50 season pass? For what?! Extra cars that could've easily been included in the full game. It's ridiculous.

Anyways, I checked out the Distance game. It reminds me of F-Zero GX and Rush. I seriously hope it gets made and is ported to the 360.

I like sim racing games and the F1 games

the Dirt games are lots of fun as well

they just don't have the big of a fan base so the genre is getting neglected for the more lucrative FPS stuff.

-Boring, dull single-player
-Boring, dull cop chases (no jumps, no explosions, nothing)
-Pay to win DLC cars
-No split-screen

It was just...boring. The multiplayer cop chases are only fun if you have friends that also have the game. I'm a big fan of arcade racing games you can play with two or even four people on the same console.

The cop chases just dragged on. It was just ramming each other's cars from the rear and sides. They should've made it fun with explosions, huge jumps, crazy stuff like that. If I were to design one, it would've looked like something out of a movie. Which is what a cop chase should be like.

My first racing game (and second game ever) was Rush 2: Extreme Racing USA. That is where I'm getting my ideas from.

The last good Need For Speed was Most Wanted (2005)

After that, the rest were complete crap. Carbon was okay but it was way too easy.

“Dear humanity, we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the corps just blew up our raggedy ass fleet!” -Sgt. Johnson

It all went downhill when Heroin Hero came out. You keep chasing the dragon through the forest, but you never catch him.
