It appears the OP lacks understanding that the "O" in H2O is not enough for a fish to incorporate in the process of respiration. In fact, oxygen as a singular atom is exceptionally reactive and does not exist in nature. It only subsides as O2. With absence of oxygen (O2), a fish will die. Yes you're right, that's a fact too. OP doesn't know that fish don't specifically breathe water, they extract the oxygen from the water to respire.
