I made this list about 10 months ago, got a full time job and put this plan on hold, for a while. Got the PC I needed for this and started working on stuff. I have achieved learning how to model and animate, not much else. I'm getting back on this as I found the list. Just got and installed Unity so I will start working on it. I've learned more about SDKs and have more overall knowledge and will also look at Cryengine and other SDKs.

Any Advice/Tips? Where I should go from here. Modeling and Animating is already skipping a step, should I go back and learn coding, continue forward with using SDKs, both?

Feel free to keep that list if it is of use to you.

I'm gonna finish it. Just like Jigga did to the pyramid.

I'll alpha & beta test your game if you'd like :D

So quick to jump in and test a game that isn't even in development yet? That's months off.

Pretty sure when you posted this the first time I told you that you were an idiot. Choose one area and stick to it, you'll never learn all of those. You don't need to learn half of those, if you want to use Unity why learn C++?

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

You pretty much got the list right. So you know what you need to do.

I'm an Animator myself. Associates in Game and Art Animation.

Maya 2013, ZBrush, Crazy Bump, Unity and Unreal. Not a fan of ANYTHING Adobe. For example. After Effects! AHHHH! It's just so terrible.

I can't wait to mess around in Unreal 4!
CryEngine is fun too. ^_^
If you can, download them. For the most part, they can be free. If you have a '.edu' email account you get full free programs.

Anyway, Watch tutorials on just basics so you understand they why and how things work. Then try to mimic models/follow along. Eventually start being creative. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE OFTEN! Maya is notorious for just randomly "crashing."

Build your portfolio of models. Then get into Animation. Animating in Maya is WAY WAY easier than any others I've found. Even the poopy After Effects guys seem to prefer Maya. Anyway, do the same. Watch tutorials and start being creative. If you can, find the STUDENT MADE PRE-SET MODEL called "Morphy."
He's a standard, simple dude. You can change his deformities and do as you please. (Hit up youtube for that too) From there you will get a better understanding.

BEFORE ALL THAT, should have mentioned, you'll need to know how to Rig a character. Ugh that's the most dumbest and frustrating part. It's easy once you figure out you only have to do to one half then mirror it over. But rigging gets you all the trigger points/joins. Then set keys for them and anchor points. Again, youtube dat shizz yo.

Let me know if you need more help.
I might go in this post to link for ya too.

Looking at your first list about SCRIPTING, that's not necessary unless you're going into that area. For example, when animating or wanting to make certain tools/brushes, Maya has a coding box. But for wanting to Animate and model, you don't need to know scripting.

BUT it's always nice to have so you can be thrown around the office/job. BEING VERSATILE IS NICE.

It's not bad but I'd rather use the UDK to prepare for UE4 that will be included in fortnite.
Except UDK/UE is a -blam!- to use, isn't user friendly, and isn't open to anywhere near as many platforms.

lol, you sound like you just hate it because you suck balls at it.
It's common knowledge that UDK has the user experience of a dishcloth.

He threw down a glove you made the mistake
Of picking it up now you're gone
The choosing of guns or fighting with swords
The choice of weapons is done
He'll tear you apart as soon as you start
You know you don't have a chance.

Because if you want to work with programming games, if you want to be able to modify your engine, etc. you need to know C++.

I'm sure he has the money for a source code license.

Java is terrible to use for games, look at Minecraft, it eats resource like a fat boy eats fries.

Yeah that's an older list from a younger, less experienced me.

I am focusing more at the moment on learning to work these UDKs and getting better at Modeling and Animation. For now. As said above, it is never bad to be versatile. I want to have as much experience as possible.

That said, it is also true that learning all of those won't be easy, very hard actually and time consuming, so I must start slow.

Which should I learn first, and will be more relevant?

I've dabbled a little with Stencyl. It's really easy and you can make pretty decent flash games.

I'm looking more into 3D games but that may be very useful, thanks.

*years, although I supposed months is technically correct too. ;)

The list is overambitious and some aspects don't particularly make sense. You're going to write a "custom SDK" before you're capable of writing a Pong clone? Do you know what an SDK is?

Pick one area and excel at it. Although it's fine to dabble in other trades, becoming proficient in each area could take years. Even if you just focused on programming, learning a complex language like C++ is not something you do in a few months and then move on; that's not even taking into consideration the time it'll take to learn the skills required to build and work with game engines at a code level.

To sum things up, I think you have ill-defined goals.

I know. It sucks. I'm sure there are ways to get it for free. Otherwise, get a .edu email.

You can't just do something that takes years of education and a full dev team to accomplish as a hobby. Sorry.

I'm not exactly planning on making Assassin's Creed 5 in a few months. I do however, see myself capable of making a basic 2D sidecrolling demo level. Even 3D.

Also, the order of that list isn't as it should be, at least most of the first two levels. Also, not worrying so much about a custom SDK for now.

I should revise the list soon.
