Hey, Flood.

I've been saving for a while now, and I finally got aprox. $800. I'll probably be getting more from relatives, but it will most likely just be gift cards for EBgames.

Does anyone know of any good boxing day deals on parts or pre-built gaming computers for $800 or less?

I'd like to get one for my room on which I could play steam games. I'd normally have my techy friend help me, but he's away for the week.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Just to clarify I'm looking for a desktop.

Related question.
Is the price has to include the OS+Monitor?
That's an important question, unless you're planning booting up Ubuntu.

I've already got a monitor, but I will need windows 7.

Not sure what Ubuntu is. I really have no idea what I'm doing here.

Ubuntu is an open source OS, but it won't answer your gaming needs unless you only want to play Indie Games/games that render in OpenGL.
I also sugges a AMD CPU/GPU combo.
They're best for bang for your buck.
I'll list you a build, will take a minute.

>Pre-built Gaming Laptops

Not a chance. Get a custom build.

Let's put aside AMD vs Intel debates here and be honest. Intel is more powerful, and for an $800 budget is the better choice. Honestly Intel > AMD for high budget gaming machines.

Indeed. I have an Intel CPU myself and I can safely say that the AMD CPU's are the best bang for your buck, though Intel is more powerful, and better if you have the money, but for this case, go AMD, OP.
here's the build, though it just needs OS. OP, get this build and just try to get another 50$ and you have a great computer for it's price.

Derp

I got the one I'm posting on now, for 1,000 bucks from newegg, look there and see what deals you can get, although building one would be your best bet.

But considering he needs an OS still, a $700 budget isn't a big budget.
