He's based on a real person...
St. Nick's Day is December 6th.
In 1000 years from now, if society turns Ghandi into a mythical being that represents peace, should he be white?
Maybe, maybe not.
We have actual photos of Gandhi. We don't have any of Santa. Gandhi is a person. Santa is an idea, even if he is loosely based on a real person. If you want to create a mythical figure that represents peace and love, then that figure can be whatever race the person imagining it wants. And if I was to say that their idea of that figure doesn't "make sense" because of its race, then I deserve to be called a racist bigot, no matter how much I preface it with "not to be racist, but..."
All I'm saying, is I think we should preserve the ethnicity of our legends, heroes, saviors- Whoever we as a society idolize.
Not only does this help preserve the person, but it helps to create a culture that honors more than just one or two races.
Santa Claus isn't a person. He's an idea. Trying to tell people that their ideas have to be a certain race to "make sense" is disgustingly racist and bigoted. How anyone, especially a goddamn mod on the site, can say it isn't is just appalling.
