What is your experience with them? Do you like them? Do they fail to measure up to rifle rounds? Thoughts in general?

Also is there an active group for all things guns?

Proud Spartan II, COG soldier, Hero of time, and crowbar wielding scientist.

Well, they're pretty good in fallout 3...

Carbines don't use "pistol ammo"... Carbines are just shortened rifles, which is good for close quarters, because you can turn corners faster when you have a short barrel. Sub machine guns use "pistol ammo" though.

Are you talking like an AR-15 chambered for a 9mm? No actual carbine is chambered for a "pistol round" (I assume you mean ammo such as the 9mm, .45, .40, etc.). Rifles that are modified to shoot smaller rounds such as the 9mm are typically done for fun, since they serve no real purpose otherwise.

SMG's such as the UMP45, MP5, and the such aren't rifles, but sub-machine guns which are just smaller weapons chambered for a smaller round, typically to be used in close quarters. Because of their size and the ability to put a lot of lead down range in a short period of time accurately, they're popular among the SWAT and SF community. The issue is their max effective range is typically only 50-100m. Nothing close to the M4's 500m.

And I don't believe there's a group for "all things guns" but if you have questions on anything involving weapons, feel free to message me. I've shot just about every gun you can name, along with having extensive knowledge in the field of firearms and self-defense.

I'd love to have a lever action rifle in .44 magnum. That wilk probabky be my next gun, along with a good .44 revolver.

Hmm so you mean the M4 Carbine from CoD4 or Carbine from Halo?

I liked both. My experiences are pretty good with them.

try this

true story

if you're under 21, certifiably retarded. you can buy the magazines, but not the ammo.

if 21+ GTG. although good luck getting one now. hoarders bought most all the weapons likely to be covered under an AWB accross most of the country AND most manufacturers state that they're either maxed out on production for 2013 or waiting to see what the political climate deals them so NO new orders from distributors.

and the distributors supply the retailers.

and the ammo for everything went up in price or is sold out.

and the hoarders are overpricing everything they just bought by a 200%-1000% mark-up.

yes, we know. but you've never heard of a pistol caliber carbine, which is what this thread is about.

examples: Walther G22, Beretta Storm, Colt 9mm AR-15,FN PS90, hipoint Carbine,etc.

JESUS CHRIST I KNOW!
I was asking about pistol caliber rifles AND carbines. I was not saying that was the definition of a carbine. Literally half of this thread is jack-assess trying to seem like experts be correcting someone.

Just like the M1 Garand. The carbine is the version the paratroopers used. Right?

nope. the M1 Carbine is actually unrelated to the garand outside of aesthetics.

it was a seperate project altogether and uses a weak cartridge known as .30 Carbine.
