I am sick and tired of all the games that don't give you any option for your controllers other than what they (the developers) want you to have. I would love to be able to assign my own function to each individual button/trigger/stick.

Feel free to chime in with your dissents or assents.

just saying.

i agree. and if any one disagrees who cares if it in the game u dont have to use it. but its what ever bungie wants.

This is true, however there is something to be said for standardization and therefore a certain equality between players, and so long as the controls aren't horrible the dev may feel the game should be played a certain way which their control scheme encourages.

Maybe I am old school, but I like it too. Usesually Default is fine, but the option makes it so everyone will be happy. Like H2 on 360, the "White and Black Buttons" (Right and Left Bumpers respectively) should be switched. I find myself taking my finger off my gernades or for a moment completely stop moving in order to activate Team Speak, when the right bumper is used for just switching gernade type.

Having the free-range to configure your controller would get rid of that (and a few other problems like Inverse SouthPaw).

There may be the equality issue, I knew it was going to come up. But everyone has the right to customize their scheme right? Most likely I'll use the Developer scheme; however, when I play I start to notice subtle tweaks that would make the game more playable to me. Just a minor switching of two buttons here or there.

I like the idea. It might be easier just allowing people to have the control how they want it instead of pre-programmed config. But it's Bungie's game let them create it how they want to.

I totally agree, especially with High Truth. It's mad confusing when switch grenade is above shoot & not throw grenade.

WIth the 360 controller I'm just dieing to map those bumpers to jump and crouch, which is how I have it set up for Halo PC.

Being able to map the controls also allows you to make use of the D-pad for stuff.

I really want to use the D-pad. That's mostly why I want it.

Here is how I've set up my 360 controller to work for Halo PC

Shoot - right trigger
Throw Grenade/Use Grenade launcher - left trigger
jump - right bumper
crouch - left bumper
reload - X
switch weapons - Y
zoom - B
Use/Get in Vehicle/Flip - A
melee - click Right Thumbstick (green thum)
switch grenades - D-pad up
pick up weapon - D-pad down
Flashlight - D-pad right

What ever retard came up with the convention of holding left thumbstick to crouch needs to die. I can't think of a worse or more unergonomic function ever.

Yeah, that is insane, let's just shoot their knee caps.

I'm left handed and i would enjoy it a lot for Halo 3 to let me customize the controls. I do enjoy the south paw option they put in. With out that my right hand would lock up often (retarded hand).

I'd like it, just to tweak anything I didn't like about the default settings.

Or just cut their achilles tendons, imparing their ability to walk. That'll get 'em thinking!

I've wanted that idea implemented from the start. Diahrrea, and cramps woul make an excellent addition to the gameplay. I mean, the click it and hold it....Yeah...That's it...
