When you ''root'' your phone do you get those themes for free?

And what does rooting exactly do with your phone?

Yes, you can get any theme for free. What rooting does is it gives you administrator rights to all of the root files and processes on your phone. This allows you to do things like overclock your CPU, put in custom ROMs and UIs, use mobile hotspot for free, and many other things. The amount of things you can do is limited only by your hardware, and not by the restrictions that Google implemented.

Gives you superuser from which you delete bloat apps like dum apps that came with the phone and gives the ability to use roms like CM10, AOKP, and MIUI

But it doesn't give free themes but their is apps for download

And also free apps?

I am trying to find a simple explantion on what rooting exactly does. Like i dont know what overclocking cpu exactly does and custom ROMs??what??? UIs??? mobile hotspots??

And if you root can you still use your lets say T-mobile subscription? Like you pay 40 bucks a month for calling and sms and all that you know.

Alright I'll try to explain this in simple terms. But no, you can't get apps for free that would otherwise cost money, but most apps are already free.

What overclocking does is it basically runs your processor at a higher frequency (frequency as in how many processes it can handle every second) so that you get more power out of it. It can be likened to installing a supercharger in your engine. A ROM is basically your operating system. When you root your phone, you can get a custom ROM installed to make your OS look different. The reason why you would want a custom ROM is because a lot of the stock ROMs have a lot of garbage in them. Custom ROMs optimize a lot of things to make your phone run better. You also get updates faster through custom ROMs since because it is created by an individual, they can release updates much quicker than what a stock ROM would because they don't have to go through the bureaucracy of Google and your provider. If they see a problem with their ROM, they will write new code and send it out possibly the next day, instead of the next few months like you would expect with a stock ROM.

A UI is the "user interface," and is basically synonymous with ROM. The UI is the face of the ROM. It's what you touch. The ROM is the heart, and the UI is the face.

A mobile hotspot is something that you can use to turn your phone into a mobile wifi station. It uses your phone's network capabilities to send the internet to other devices via wifi. Usually you have to pay an extra $10 a month or so to use this "legally," but rooting your phone can bypass your provider's restrictions. However I think a lot of providers have implemented fail-safes in their network that can catch people doing this, so I'm not so sure how well it would actually work.

You can still use your subscription. Rooting doesn't mess with your subscription, only the internal processes of your phone.

My only question : ''you can get a custom ROM installed to make your OS look different''

OS looks different what do you mean by that?

Does Galaxy has some kind of appstore?
Yep, the play store.

Can you jailbreak the galaxy without problems like the iphone?

There will always be problem with jailbreaking, but I 'think' it is easier on android devices. Its also called 'rooting.'

How does the phone feel?
Thin, solid, quite light. Buttons don't feel like they're as good quality as the case.

Does the galaxy has some kind of cydia?
If that's the program that allows customisation of menus, then yes, and you don't need to jailbreak.

Does the phone breaks fast?
Well, I didn't get a case and have had my phone for a few months, the screen is immaculate and there is just minor wear and tear on the back. The top edge's paint has been chipped a little bit. I'd say its quite durable, but a case wouldn't hurt.

Does android has the same amount of apps like apple?
It is difficult to compare really, but you can install non store apps on android, so if you have a file, just load it on and it will work.

Yes. It's called Google Play store
I don't know. Google it.
It feels very light and smooth. Not heavy for a smartphone at all.
Android phones already have way more customization, so you won't need a form of 'cydia'.
If you're not careful with it, then it's likely to break. It's not as good quality material than with iPhones. I'll be honest about that.
I really cannot say. But most of the apps available via iOS usually have an Android version or an Android counterpart to it.

My only question : ''you can get a custom ROM installed to make your OS look different''

OS looks different what do you mean by that?

Well just like on a Windows computer, you've got Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 etc. They're all the same operating system but different versions of it. XP has a different ROM than Vista, but they're still both the same operating system: Windows. Wouldn't you agree that they all look different? Same thing for Androids.

Eh, I don't think that's a very good analogy. I'd liken it to the differences between Ubuntu and its offshoots. You have Ubuntu, which would be stock Android in this example. Then, you have Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Lubuntu (these represent the custom ROMs) - these are on the same release cycle as Ubuntu, and have the same core functionality, but have been modified to be slightly different.

The Windows analogy would be more akin to the different versions of Android.

1. Yes, Google Play Store
2. Yes, very easily.
3. It feels perfect, VERY thin and light and perfect size screen for videos etc imo
4. Yes
5. I dropped it in a super rare position to land on and cracked the screen. That's not likely to happen, but I still suggest a case.
6. Maybe not as much, but just as good.

Its a great phone, I LOVE it :D
