Subject: Filthy little casuals, they stole it from us!

What exactly?
I hear a lot of these cries, that the casuals stole the competative gaming, but isnt 90% of all gamers casuals, so wouldt it be just fair to let them have it?

What do you have against casuals?

Halo used to be about competitive gaming. Hell, just about all multiplayer gaming was made for hardcore gamers. Once games like WoW and CoD came out though, everything started becoming main stream and therefore had to be dumbed down to increase sales. That is why we hate casuals. They need their hands held instead of learning through trial and error and getting better.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Casuals influence the direction games go with their mere numbers. They decide which games are popular and set an example for the rest of developers to follow.

Basically, if they buy trash then the games that are churned out will mimic that trash.

Halo was never a hardcore game. It's a -blam!- MICROSOFT first party title that was the reason the XBOX sold. It always had loads of aim assist, regenerating health, and it had a slow movement speed like mosg console shooters out of fear that most people couldn't aim at fast moving enemies.

Because every game developer is currently downgrading their game mechanics and respective difficulty to master said game, in order to appeal to a more general public; the casuals.

So in a way, they did stole it from us precious KOOLEN KOOLEN!!

1. Halo wasn't "mainstream" before CoD came out?

x_*x Blame Stosh

There is and will always be a niche for competitive gaming. The problem comes in when casuals influence some of our favorite series by way of sheer number (after all, business is business). However, I've seen a trend of catering to the hardcore group by offering gametypes that balance the games more. Often times I see people bicker about games that have said gametypes, and it makes little sense to me.

And to be honest, I catch myself wanting to just play without the stress of stiff competition, so I can find solace in the diluted regular gametypes, and then play the competitive ones when I'm looking for more balanced and hardcore gameplay.
