Where?

  • 12.26.2012 9:27 AM PDT

As I posted earlier, Halo 3's population didn't start to decline until a month before Reach came out. Halo 3's population only kept going up after its launch.

So H4's population is naturally decreasing over time. Just like every other video game out there.

And this proves that it's a bad game?

How come it's lower now then?

  • 12.26.2012 9:31 AM PDT

Gee, I don't know! It couldn't possible be because two other Halo titles with Mutlplayer were released between Halo 3's launch and the time we're posting this. It's not like I just said earlier in my post that Halo 3's population didn't drop until a month before Reach came out.

If you're going to pick apart my post, you should read the whole thing first.

H3's population definitely did start to decline way before Reach. H3 traded with MW for #1 and #2 on the activity charts and outright lost to MW2.

Even then: Apples to oranges.

Not only was it a different time for H3, it was the popular 'it' game, but it's population counter and tracker were different from today. Hell, Bungie themselves said that it's tracker and counter weren't accurate since it guess player population from number of games played.

Hell, Bungie has even said that Reach did better than H3, and Reach was "worse" than H3.

I dont know what mutlplayer is, but neither my version of Reach or Halo 4 has it. Was it DLC?

I made it my priority this time round. :)

Even with MW2's launch there was still 100k+ on Social Slayer at the time.

Also, I want proof of Bungie stating that their stat tracker was broken, since they were Hell bent to defend it every time someone brought it up on the Forums.

Reach's population started to die even when it was the most active Halo title at the time, Halo 3 didn't "die" until late into Reach's life span. It took two Halo games and MW2 (The biggest entertainment launch in media history at the time) to knock Halo 3 off from it's pedestal and right now it isn't taking any Halo titles at all to knock Halo 4 off.

lol that isn't true at all. I will grant you that the population resurged with the release of the Mythic Map Pack and ODST. Just shows how far good DLC can go. Wish 343 would take their heads out of their asses and focus on more than simply churning out maps that can be played competitively.

Thousands of other people agree.

Proof?

Proof thousand of other people disagree?

Here ya' go.

I remember reading this thing some guy said where he's like, "In the arguments of today, I bet it's useful to wave some document in front of someone's face when they're trying to have a logical argument with you so you don't have to put any effort in."

Damn, I want to remember who that was.

Not broken: Not as accurate.

Reach trumped H3 in terms of population from the get go. H3 never rose above Reach. H3 died when Reach launched and never recovered.

If "dying" means falling off the top ten on activity charts, then H4 isn't dying either. At last count, it was second.

I'm trying to become an '04, but it's not working too well."

Think of it this way; All of those people who have been playing the game for almost two months straight prolly got a new game to replace it with.
