That's extremely unethical, I hope that they are sued out the wazoo.

Aaaaaaand, of course, CNN links to the map in the first sentence of the article. They want to highlight the outrage at a journal's borderline fascist action, then make the map that much more accessible on a national website. God I hate major news media.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

We have free speech and free press in this country. I don't see how anyone can stop them or win a lawsuit even if something did happen as a result.

Doesn't protect from civil liability.

Why is there a big empty spot over new york and then suddenly outside the city limits its like a wall of red dots.

Mt. Venon area
Its literally every two to three houses is a gun owner

There's nothing that says that a paper can't publish publicly available information. As far as I am concerned, the paper did nothing wrong.

Would you like your address published in public print detailing your very expensive things you keep in your house?

It's not against the law, it's just morally wrong.

that being said, I don't agree with her info being published, but she had it coming.

I am assuming direct control.

What the hell is with the persecution of gun owners? Gun owners with permits are responsible, anyone who knows one would agree. They're not a bunch of crazies, so why does everyone act like it and try and target them?

Seriously, if someone tried this -blam!- with my family, there would be some sort of legal response, you can't just start posting personal info because you're a little -blam!- and are afraid of guns.

It already is. If you want to know how much my house costs, you can look it up in the newspaper. When you buy a house, local newspapers print your name, address, and how much the house cost.

I wish ignorance was a plague.

This isn't even all the guns in the city, just the handguns.

But does it list your other assets like TVs and jewelry?
it
Firearms are expensive, and publicizing those who have them and their addresses is wrong. Why publish the names and addresses of legal gun owners? What purpose does it serve?

Funny that the 2nd Amendment advocates don't like it when someone uses the 1st Amendment.

This can actually jeopardize one's security though. Criminals now know which houses have guns and which ones don't. Even IF this information was already public, it's easier to access it now. Criminals can now try to either rob houses and steal guns or target houses they know do not have any firearms.

would you like it if someone puts your address out there for the masses to see, just because you own guns? NY that is just stupid.

ON TOP OF THAT

With the recent events, the ignorant masses see all gun owners are murders.

This could put their and their families safety at risk. From those who wish to make political points through nefarious means.

Gun owners like privacy. We don't want everyone to know what we have. We don't want people to know where we live. We just want to live our lives with out issue.
