IB student here, just wondering if the IB is really worth it?
Where all those sleepless nights worth it? Also, what was your final score?

I know a friend who has one. Is it out of 40? IIRC he got a 38 unless I'm thinking of something different.

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

I took 5 exams; bailed on one of them.

If you can make it through regular schoolwork and the extra workload for IB, and pass all the tests, then sure, if you plan on going to university. Although, you'd have to check whether your desired university accepts IB certificates -- most do in the States and UK, I think.

If you're not dedicated to the cause, then yeah, it's sort of not worth it. But you've probably already paid the fees, so might as well give the exams a try.

I passed three exams with 4/7's, one 3/7, and an incomplete, due to not completing one of the internal assessments.

Although I do want to say that it's quite worth it in that for only several hundred dollars, you can potentially earn dozens of university credits, and thereby save thousands of dollars on courses you wouldn't need to take.

I blew it because I was/am an ass, and really didn't try as I should have during high school. Failing IB was one of my biggest regrets in high school.

"Before you insult someone, try walking a mile in their shoes. This way, when you insult them, you are a mile away and have their shoes."

IB is worth it depending on where you wish to go. The total score for me was out of 46, I was part of the new exams for this year. Took Math HL, Physics HL, English HL, Dutch HL, PCS SL, Psychology SL. Got a 7 on all of them, except for math and physics, which were a 5 and 6, respectively.

The diploma is harder than most standard programs (AP/GCSE), and is more on level with university level material in some courses and A-levels in others. It's certainly worth it.

(I'm finishing my IB this year.)
It's recognized in universities almost all over the world, which opens a lot of useful doors. It also pushes you to work so much that the first year of uni seems easy in comparison, acording to fellow graduated students from my IB school.

In other words, it prepares you well. But I know what you mean by sleepless nights and all that...

I thought it was out of 50?

Anyway I know two twins who got basically 1 mark off of 100%. Something like 49/50.

I could have done it when I was at school, but it was new - and is only useful if you plan on doing Tertiary study overseas, and I did not.

I am currently going to start my second semester, taking Math HL, English HL, Literature HL, Business Studies HL,Programming NL (the medium level) and physics ML (plus TOK, extended essay course, and other fillers), I really wanted to have physics HL but there are no teachers qualified to give the course, the only one lived in a different state and was currently incapacitated. I have heard from my teachers that high lvl physics is too advanced, the popular opinion is that normal physics is equal to HL Math in terms of difficulty, and that HL physics is much harder. What is your opinion on that?

(the max score is 46, being 43 points from exams and 3 from the TOK and the extended essay)

lol IB, I embarrassed those kids in my high school physics class.

No, it was not worth it from what I have heard from my friends who were in IB. Almost none of the credit you got is going to get you through college faster.

I've got a fan!

If you're just going to a regular state university (which it totally fine), then it's entirely unnecessary and any credit which you may knock out with all that hard work is filler, easy-A stuff in college. I'm talking 1st semester general education credits that people take to pad their GPA.
