So I have an Asus N56VM laptop, and under my computer, there are two drives, a C drive for the OS and a D drive for data. I'm hoping that these are in fact 2 seperate drives and not just 1 partioned drive, because I would like to remove the C drive and install an SSD.

My question is; how do I put my OS (windows 7) on a blue ray disk, so I can install it on the new SSD?

I'm gonna finish it. Just like Jigga did to the pyramid.

you'd have to rip the install files from the CD (or elsehwhere) onto your pc, then burn it onto a blu ray disc. You'll need a blu ray drive for that.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

You should simply be able to put your Windows installation disk in the optical drive, boot off of it, and then partition and install the OS onto the drive.

I don't have a windows 7 disk though, the laptop came with it already installed.

I have a BD drive.

Did the laptop come with a restore disk? That can allow you to boot off of the optical drive and then partition/format do whatever you want with the other disk(s).

The only disk it came with is a driver disk. When I boot the computer however, it recommends me to "back up factory state windows".

That sounds like there are either multiple drives or at least a partition that is your "recovery disk".

In which case, you may have to get creative and (if possible) attach your SSD to any available SATA port/cable and see if the system restore has the ability (allows you to) install onto a drive other than the factory installed one.

Otherwise (since your device is licensed, but you don't have media), you should find someone who has bootable installation media (that would allow you to use the activation key that should still be on your laptop).

Download the correct ISO here and then burn it to a disc or USB thumb drive. Use the key located on the bottom/side of your computer to activate.
