Subject: Comcast is the lousiest piece of scrap to ever be put on this planet.

What are these first person words you speak of?

There has been packet loss issues in this house for a few days now. With packet loss, there typically comes latency/lag. With that, there comes sub par gameplay in some online games. With sub par gameplay, there comes a pretty sad faced puma.

So, you'd figure going to their customer service would help (Well, customer service has a terribad reputation for 98% of the places you go to nowadays doesn't it? Probably never should have even bothered,) but apparently not.

After they insisted that there was no packet loss, apparently you can show them images of it, and they will simply completely ignore it, and tell you about how great your current connection is, and how it could be even better if you buy more of their equipment.

This is ridiculously stupid, and comcast needs to be placed onto bungie's giant slingshot, and be thrown into the sun.

ITT: Discuss how terribad comcast is.

It's not great but it is much better than my old ISP.

I live outside of town in the country.

H3ITWP

I had a problem with them and complained enough that they replaced all of my cable wiring inside and out. After that there was not much more that they could do. I puchsed the upgraded service. I really don't have that much of a problem.

Yep OP Comcast sucks at least for residential homes at my college it is amazing.

  • 12.26.2012 8:41 AM PDT

Comcast is close to being a full on monolopy in my town. It is amazing some of their business ethics. Unfortunately I have to support them seeing as their internet speed trumps everything else in this town.

Edit...try having latency/connect issues when you are in the middle of a 620$ online poker tournament (back when pokerstars was still available in the states). Yeah, that was frustrating.

Comcast has always given me problems. The connection is fast, but always very unstable. It wasn't just my location, or house either. I've moved multiple times in the past 5 years, and the connection is always terribad.

Teh puma is still hoping Google's service eventually reaches Virginia because the whole deal with Warner bros, and Comcast scratching each other's backs consistently so they don't have to deal with any other competition is getting out of hand.

Google Fiber > Anything else the other isp's can push out as far as teh puma is concerned.

On the Left

Godshatter: I can go all the way with someone without being attracted to them.
CamCamm: How does that work?
Godshatter: I'm easily aroused by anything that moves. It's a curse.
Brain says 'No, that's ugly', body says 'ugly is fine with me'.

Sux for Teh Puma. Razgriz here has had no problem. The only issues Ive had have been my router losing connection. But with a new one bought for christmas, all the issues have been fixed.

Get a new router. :p

But yea. Ill jump on to the Google ship once it hits Cali. Ive even been wanting the Veriozon Fios or whatever. But its currently in SoCal.

Personally, teh puma wouldn't bother with fios. Though it'd probably be better than what he has right now.

We're on the silver subscription.

Shakes Magic 8 Ball

Whenever I get a house call while I'm dong anything internet related, my connection will lag/buffer/halt/whatever while that phone rings.

It rings a lot, most of which calls are telemarketers. Every day this happens.

We just use cell phones, now. Stopped having uses for normal phones awhile back, or well... uses for us anyway, not sure if anyone else has any decent reason to have them or not.

Why exactly is it that you still have one?

Good question, no answer.

I can't tell you how many times I've wished Comcast wasn't the only god damn isp in my neighborhood.

It's actually kind of ridiculous isn't it? We really do need more options, because they (Comcast, Verizon, and WB,) pretty much set the market up themselves.

Until Google Fiber comes to more places, they don't have any reason to treat us better.

Let's put it this way.

They are good at, at least giving you your service. However the quality of your service will vary, and if it is sub par then the chances are that they will not fix them. Either they simply wont bother, or they will attempt to fix the issues, and say they have fixed it even though they haven't.

That, along with the over pricing... Yeah, Comcast is pretty terribru.

  • 12.26.2012 9:14 AM PDT

What?

I kinda like Comcast.

  • 12.26.2012 9:15 AM PDT

"Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."

Get at me

I fought tooth and nail with Comcast for 2 months because my internet was unbearably bad. They never even resolved the issue. I went on a 7 month deployment, and when I got back it was good. Been fine since then.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I have Comcast and I don't experience problems like that as frequently as you do.
I wouldn't know why that is.

Probably because they are terrible at giving decent customer service.

Everything is dandy until you get the problem in the first place. Then it's a grind for (What seems to be almost everyone, except a lucky few,) getting through the terrible service, repeatedly showing them evidence as to why the issues aren't on your end, or were at some fault of theirs, and just hoping you're lucky enough that they resolve the issue.

  • 12.26.2012 9:24 AM PDT

Around me (Philly) Comcast is the best. I had verizon for years and it blew. I got comcast for internet and tv and ive never had any complaints.

I had a very similar thing, only I threw a 14 story building out of a pool and hit a kid on a paper aeroplane.

The Flood is just this awesome :D

Meanwhile Google Fiber provides 1000 mb/s for 70 bucks a month.

I think I might be lucky when it comes to ISPs. Cox hasn't done anything recently that involved crappy service and I'm getting around 70 mb/s for 130 a month.

  • 12.26.2012 9:28 AM PDT

I am assuming direct control.

Comcast is awful. Always having issues and they do so little to help. Hell, over the summer they needed to do maintenance so the internet would cut out ever night at 11. This went on for months.

I can't remember when I wasn't having issues with Comcast.
