Yes, I AM just that awesome.

At the end of the Ark in Halo 3, the cartographer shows that the Ark is outside of the Milky Way's rim. From the end of Halo 3, Requiem appears to be close to the Ark. How did Infinity get there?

As far as I am aware Requiem is not close to the Ark. Don't forget that around 2 years have passed.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

It's strange that the Forerunner didn't have a Cole Protocolesque, system would limited their installations to be found, by chance... On one hand 343 says:

"Not at all. While I had a complete understanding of Installation 04, my Makers wisely limited my knowledge of all other strategic facilities. Compartmentalization - in case was ever captured, by the Flood." ~ 343GS

Yet Jul finds Requiem by translating glyphs (Covenant, making a correct translation, now that's new), and the ONI by.. whatever they did.. Doesn't seem systematic enough, especially considering their Key Ship program.

"Warning! Do not go here! This is a prison for a very dangerous, secret inmate! His name is the Didact. Here are the coordinates. He hates Humans. Remember, Don't go here!"
"I like the message. Let's post it on multiple planets and Halos so everyone gets the message."

1) I think you mean the Dawn

2) It went through the slipspace portal, but Medicant Bias diverted the Chief's half to Requiem.

Otherwise, Infinity got to Requiem because of coordinates found at Halo .03, combined with Cortana's distress signal.

^^Requiem was just another military installation; the only thing that made it unique was the Didact was there. It didn't warrent the security of a Halo.

While they likely did have access denial when it came to the Flood, they're all gone now. So there'd be less restrictions for average joes.

Besides, Librarian wanted Didact to be found, by humans at least, so they could learn from him and him from us. It's just that his hatred got so deep he ignored his Mantle.

That is an oversight or ineptness on 343I's part.

What a waste....

I think we should all recall that the Didact and Chakas were both at Installation 03, along with the Composer. Would it be that surprising for the information of Requiem to be stored with other relevant materials and data, and/or the Forerunners leaving behind something from a blown up ship?

  • 12.26.2012 6:22 PM PDT

I think its either 343 not thinking or that information on the composer was not erased due to forerunners not thinking or not having time.

You mean in Primordium, right? I thought that was Installation 07? Also, both halves of FuD made it through the portal. It's just that only the front half made it to Earth. Requiem isn't necessarily close to the Ark. Remember, that a Halo was activated. They were far enough away to not be killed. And they drifted for 4 years form wherever the portal dropped them off.

They got Requiem's location from installation 03.

Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

Bungie and 343 never stated Requiem's exact location. We just know it's somewhere. The Dawn could've ended up anywhere and since the Infinity was sent out for exploration, it's only possible that they just stumbled upon it.

4+ actually.

And the Dawn was dropped out of slipspace who knows where, so there is that as well.

Infinity has a Forerunner slipspace drive, which means they can travel far faster than any other Human or Covenant ship.

You two clearly haven't read the terminals after like 4 years.
