Technically, when you purchase a physical game you do not own it either. The software (the game) still belongs to the companies that developed and published it. You're just paying for the right to use the software.I think what they meant is that your license for the game is tied to the steam service rather than being tied to the disc.

This doesn't really matter. Unless you're doing something illegal (pirating games, hacking accounts, etc). So if you're just an average user, there's no worries whatsoever..

As long as you're not doing anything illegal or against the terms of service, that shouldn't matter.That's completely untrue. Real issues that effect you whether you know it are not are: The inability to transfer the license to another person, and more importantly that if you lose access to the service (banned / forget recoveries and psswd) you lose all of your games.
