Technically, when you purchase a physical game you do not own it either. The software (the game) still belongs to the companies that developed and published it. You're just paying for the right to use the software.I think what they meant is that your license for the game is tied to the steam service rather than being tied to the disc.
As long as you're not doing anything illegal or against the terms of service, that shouldn't matter.What pisses me off is that people can potentially be banned and will never be given a reason why. That absolutely needs to be made available.
