In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten
Bungie.next promises to be an anticipated revamp of Bungie.net with Bungie's next title coming out. But, what does Bungie.next mean for profiles and how we use them?
The only thing we know right now is we will have the ability to change our name in some way with the update. That is huge right there because it gives individual users more control of their account and a willingness to keep that account instead of making another one to get another name.
Then we have to consider Destiny, the game described as "social at it's core". If that is true, then I am sure profiles on Bungie.next will have very different functions than today. Bungie.net has always been a part of Bungie's games for recording stats, media, and unlocking in-game items like nameplates.
But a game that is social at it's core rather than a typical shooter should have a lot more ways in which to connect people. I am thinking profiles will features like a clan system, an in-game messenger, or other ways to connect people. I also think based on that, not all of Bungie.next will be available until Destiny is closer to release.
Based on what destiny has been described from leaks and what we know currently, it sounds like profiles will hopefully serve a much greater purpose in the future and Bungie.next may connect people in ways much greater than what we have now. But what do you think and what features in Bungie.next would make sense to add to be usable for a game "social at it's core"? How do you think new features could add value to accounts?
