Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Happy Boxing Day!

For my fellow members who may be unaware of this particular holiday.

For haters? Why get mad over any reason for moar presents?

Boxing Day is traditionally the day following Christmas Day, when servants and tradesmen would receive gifts from their superiors.

Well I'm not a tradesman and certainly no servant.

Generalizations.
Helping idiots hate other idiots since people have existed.

Does this mean DeeJ has to go buy presents for the mods?

There's not enough spending at New Years, so I've never felt any incentive. Maybe if they really put in a major effort to ramp up the commercial side of it, I'd feel some enthusiasm.

I am told by some of my Commonwealth friends that some locales have a Boxing Day tradition similar to a "pub crawl" where people visit friends, gather leftovers and gifts and then that combined party moves on to the next friend's house to increase the food/festivities and repeat until you have a large group and shared food/company at the final destination.

When it was described to me, it seemed like a very fun and happy tradition.

My name is from Star Wars. Now you know.

Feel free to follow me on my twitter and stalk me.

Recon, I challenge you to a boxing match.

  • 12.26.2012 11:14 AM PDT

Is it sad that I used to think this day had something to do with the sport of boxing?

  • 12.26.2012 11:15 AM PDT

Shakes Magic 8 Ball

My superior happens to be my father, who's never actually gifted me anything in a long while...

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Yeah, I dare not go to the malls or shops today. Boxing day is just a day for retailers to sell all of their extra merchandise from the Christmas season. It's crazy.

See that picture of the Eaton Centre downtown on the wiki? It's like that everywhere.

I challenge you ALL to a boxing match!!! As long as you don't fight back, I get to have 10 free hits, and I get to do steroids and be ridiculously over powered.

I would suggest PM'ing him, but the last time that I did that, I got scolded and called a jerk.

But I certainly can't stop anyone from PM'ing if they want to!

Sounds almost like a traditional Greek symposium. Which in my opinion is masterrace because of the komos

Looks like you already suggested PMing him right now. It's too late.

Nice emblem.

  • 12.26.2012 11:20 AM PDT

What? I can't do two christmases on two different days. I used to do christmas day with my grandmother and mother and step grandfather and do boxing day with my grandfather genetic and my mother (I spent both days and christmas eve with my mother). But my genetic grandfather died so I went to the cinema to watch Jack Reacher instead. But I already get all my presents on christmas day which is the day the Jesus birth got shifted to to suit religion for some arbitrary reason or other not on Boxing Day. And then Santa was brought in and then it got commercialised then it just became a day when everyone ate turkey and died of Escherichia coli infections. And tiz the season of receiving. Then it became a public holiday (in conjunction with, not Ead as that's on a different time of the year, but with Honoka). Then it just became a day that anyone could celebrate even if your Muslim or an atheist like me or an agnostic.... But what the hell is Boxing Day all about?
