You heard me right. Halo 3 should introduce a possible new human vehicle thats smaller, faster, and lighter then the warthog....and its nickname should be the hedgehog (you got a better name, post it).

The Hedgehog would be a one person vehicle approx the size of a Dune Buggy. In fact, its chasis would be based off a dune buggy. This would prevent tipovers (the main problem with the Mongoose ATV) since the base would be much wider.

It would feature a tradition dune buggy cockpit (with side armor rather then open) with two submachine guns mounted above where the driver sits that are controlled by the driver. It'll feature approx the same amount of armor as the ghost/spectre.

it could also be converted into a two person vehicle with a turret mounted in the back.

The gunner would be located facing backwards in a sitting position and in control of a mini gauss cannon, a full size mounted turret, or a new weapon that can turn 180 (so only left and right... can't face fowards). the gunner would have a small shield mounted behind him to protect his head, since that would be the only part of his body above the frame of the vehicle (this shield would be integrated into the vehcile to be aerodynamic). The shield makes up for the fact that the gunner can't turn 360 degrees

For enhanced gameplay/ tactics and fun, it will feature a boost system.. i'd say its NOS, but the warthog runs on hydrogen fuel-cell electric motors, so lets just say its got a flux capacitor (yes, I know, its from back to the future, but capacitors deliver massive bursts of electric charge in a few seconds... alright, lets call it an UltraCapacitor, UltraCap for short) that gains energy from regenrative braking, so you can give it a temprary boost of speed (unlike the shee and ghost which have unlimited boost). The boost will need to be used for jumps on certain campaign missions as well as MP levels, as well as tactics, such as avoiding rockets, and make up for the vehicles small amount of armor.

and for fun, it could be painted electic blue, and turn gold when you collect enough rings and emeralds... jk!

that which is not dead can eternal lie, but with strange aeons even death may die.

Its a good idea, but I think a dune-buggy would Be too much of a rip off of the worthog is-self, I men the worthog is fast (fastest in game) good armor, and is a crazy ass awsome thing to drive, plus it can roll.

I mean hell I have a blast in a dune buggy, but I would rather let bungie come up with something good, (probably the ATV)

yea, but ATV's are a terrible idea.... your bodys completely exposed... atleast the ghost has the engine compartment and backsupport shielding you somewhat. I mean, sure, MC's got a shield and full body armour, but the rest of the UNSC doesn't. Plus, the warthogs the fastest human vehicle... with the addition of boost in halo 2 even the wraith can accelerate faster then the warthog... if only for two seconds.

well, my other idea for the Hedgehog is pretty simple... make it a single person vehicle and forget about the rear facing turret. Hows that sound to ya?

I only agree with this idea simply because of the name!!!!!!

I love it lol the name 'hedgehog' would fit a smaller counterpart to the warthog perfectly ^_^

If I worked for bungie I would seriously consider that name idea.

A Flux Capacitor? Sorry, you don't want a dune buggy. Go over to CMC and ask for a DeLorean.

  • 07.06.2006 11:04 AM PDT

"I'm hungry..."

All I know is that I would like to see a human equivelant to the ghost (the warthog is the human equivelant to the spectre) and a human equivelant to the Banshee glider.

Also, plasma thrower? Never heard something like that before. I'm intrigued, though, because it seems to make more sense than a flamethrower (FLAMES CANNOT GO THROUGH SHIELDS AND ARMOR!)

Plasma thrower would throw green, red or blue plasma (probably blue) and be freakin awesome. I want them to bring back the flame thrower as well and intro duel-mode to the game. The flame throwers secondary mode would be a wide spray about an inch thick for taking on multiple enemies at one time.

I was thinking for the plasma throwers secondary, it should be a charged shot that uses up a whole tank of fuel or better fitting in with the COV weapons, it would have a built in tank that can't be recharged ( like the plasma pistols, PR's, etc.). The charged shot would use about 25% of the energy and you wouldn't be able to shoot anything for 2-3 seconds since it will have overheated. The charged shot would be a ball of plasma approx the size of a basketball and if hit head on with it ( in a 5-10ft range), you're instantly incinerated. Since it would have built in fuel and a different secondary, it would add variety to the game.

As for the flamethrower, the whole shield thing probably has a lot to do with why they left it out of the second game. But I image flames would disrupt the shields field and then overheat the chiefs body (heating and possible melting his armor) thereby causing damage and ultimately death.

Yes, I know, its from back to the future. Obviously you don't know what a capacitor does, but I'll explain it for everybody else. A capacitor stores loads of electrical energy that can be released extremely quickly ( the light for your digital camera uses one). This energy could come, say, from a regenerative braking system, for example. Anyways, flux capiacitor makes it sound much more powerful (since most capacitors we have today are very weak), but I'll rename it an UltraCapacitor (UltraCap for short). So when people talk about the hedgehogs boost, they can refer to the Ultracaps powering it.

I've also updated the hedgehog as being a one person vehicle that can have a converted to hold two people.

So I made a crappy joke about it. And somehow that translates to me not knowing anything about it?

I have a better name than "The Hegehog"

The "Pig"

Because a warthog looks like a deranged pig. Just thought it would be nice....

also, why is this a speculation thread? wtf do I have to speculate about?

the mongoose should be put in, it would serve a purpose for when you are in the desert so it would fit in,and atv's are fun to drive

I think a heghog would be nice but what I want with veicls are variations. Now the scorpian tank is efective agenst almost everything for example. But what if there were 2 other tanks like um...lets call it a rino tank. The rino tank has a cannon that can kill any veicle in one shot, but the cannon was so big they didn't have room for a mech gun. It's also heavy and slow. We could also have like a Hippo tank, which is fast (not like hog, fast but fast) has an accurat machein gun but a cannon that isn't made for killing veicles. Instead it makes a lot of spash damage to kill multiple infentry. Get what I mean...all 3 of them are tanks but there each good at something eles. Lets take wepons for example (i'll use the shotgun) the regular shotgun is effective at short to medeum range. We could also have a shotgun best at medium range but can also do short range. So instead of shooting like 8 small shots it would shoot one big bullet. We could also have a shotgun that is devestating at close range but the worst wepon ever at far rang.

This way we could have more wepons without a bunch of usless ones.

Not bad actually, dunebugs are awesome. I think it would make sense to have one in Halo 3 considering you'll be fighting in Africa.

If I remember correctly, an ATV was planned for the first halo, but the thing was unpopular, flipped easily and ended up being scrapped.

idk about the mongoose being unpopular... I've defiently heard alot of people say that they would love to use it if bungie could make it work right. I addressed the flipping for the hedgehog in my post.

Also, the Hedgehog dune buggy would make sense for war torn cities and other possible Halo 3 landscapes, because of there great versatility, just like the warthog.

HEHE haw about a mounted shotgun battery!!! (kidding!!!!!)

Seriously though, I don't think that much wep variation will come.
I don't see master chief having to decide between two different kinds of shotguns.

On the dunebuggy, it might work, but i think of the 'hawg as an overglorified dune buggy.

Think:
It's profile is thin.
it's agile and quick.
It has relatively good seating capacity.
Remember the UNSC is military. They take pride in getting as much use out of one thing as they can. Snipers are also scouts. Choppers attack AND transport.
If they do come out with a Ghost, but for humans, it would have to be a 1 seater and most likely primarily used for anti-personel reasons.

if you like, think of the hedgehog as a variation of the wart. It'll offer the driver guns to shoot, boosting capabilities, and a lower profile (harder for enemies to snipe you out of one). No more having to worry about your gunner getting shot or having to take enemy fire and not being able to shoot back. Obviously these advantages have to come at a price and thats that the hedgehog will be rare and the guns it shoot should be weak... just not so weak that its boring.

Also, the guns would lock when boosting.

hells yea, give pudge exactly what he wants! I think the hedgehog sounds great, but take away the boost and just make it the fastest vehicle in the game

that my friend is a very impressively descirbed peice, i wouldn't mind having it in the game, perhaps minus the boost function, however i think there isn't really any obvious need for it as the warthog seems to be almost an identical twin of what your describing, yet your hedgehog ( does sound rather dodgy aswell i might add ) is slightly smaller and can hold less people.
