Subject: "Successful" is a stupid word

Success to me means planning for a goal and achieving it. So far I have not reached my goal so I have not achieved success.

Don't do anything you wouldn't want to have to explain to paramedics. Trust me, I'm a pilot.

Yes, "success" and "successful" are both subjective words in a long list of subjective words in the English language. We should challenge the definition of "happiness" next.

Garem, you just think there should be an overhaul of our entire society. However success used to be defined throw it out the window? right? There's no need to go to school anymore since you can do just fine and happy sitting on your ass all day right? Since nobody goes to school we don't need teachers to teach anymore. Now we live in a society full of mouth-breathing, inert, leechers. No more innovation, nothing. Whether you believe it or not society has evolved, and most of the things around you, you can thank society for.

You can go back to the stone ages if you like, i'm fine here in the real world.

But there's always going to be people who's happiness depends on helping others. And those are who will progress society.

So you, and these leechers, are dependent on others to move you along in life. Each productive person in society can say they've done something that adds to society, and has given us what we have today. I'm not saying everyone must come up with their own innovation to give to the world. Take a carpenter, he doesn't have to invent anything special, but he furnishes people's homes so they can live happily.

you're not progressing society in any way if you just sit at home. You're depending on the one's "who's happiness depends on helping others." Waiting for them to do the work, since you know you don't have to, all while you wait for that welfare check to come in the mail.

Therefore you're unable to support yourself and that's something that signifies, to me, you're unsuccessful. How can you be happy if you can't even support yourself? That's what's called a freeloader.

I never said anything about welfare. So tell me, how is that freeloading?

Well, for someone who sits on their couch through the day- has no job- and their living off welfare from the government, or even their parents. i don't know how they could be, but their happy since they get to watch tv all day. They don't have to go do any work because they know somebody else will do it and progress society for them. They get money from an outside source, not from their own work. Their freeloading.

I didn't say anything about welfare or getting money from parents.

Try again.

"Halo! Its divine wind will rush through the stars, propelling all who are worthy along the path to salvation."

Mortal Success is an odd one.

But some of thee say that success is measure by living a full life and being happy. A rich man is successful in the sense that he/she won't go hungry and the like.

A homeless man is not successful because of their inability to obtain a mortal degree and such.

But both can obtain happiness.

  • 12.26.2012 8:40 PM PDT

Success is measured in blood; yours or your enemy's.

  • 12.26.2012 8:44 PM PDT

If pro is the opposite of con, then the opposite of progress is...

Gotta separate your p's and your q's, OP.

The strongest Rivals are also the strongest allies.

the CEO, clearly did far better in life than the man who is homeless.

BAN ALL BRONIES

Well the ceo would at least be financially successful, which is alot, considering the US and any other capitalist society is rewarding for those who excel financially of course.

Wait, how does being successful breach the lines of equality? You make it seem like levels of success and equity very directly.

BAN ALL BRONIES

The problem op is "successful" is a broad word, since one can be successful in different mediums while being not so much on others. Dont think u realize this. But the ceo is definitely financially successful as i explained in my last post. i see little success for a bum to be honest unless it was his goal to go against the norm and to achieve his status purposely, perhaps he would be successful in that way then.

Since no one can be "better" than another, they both did equally.

My personal definition of Successful is

The feeling of being happy with your current state in life.
