Talking about Sweden is an ultrabannable offense.

Posted by: Achronos
Too bad being completely and utterly wrong isn't a bannable offense.

Is anyone ever going to bother to look at these laws and change them so they make sense?

Is there no way to limit illegal smuggling?

So what is the AK-74u? An SMG or Assault Rifle?
The AK-74U is a fictional weapon created in Call of Duty. The AKS-74U, however, is a carbine. It is not an Assault Rifle because it is a compact variant of the AKS-74, and it shoots "Assault Rifle" cartridges instead of handgun rounds (a requirement for an SMG).

My point: the guns he used were legally owned and registered.

Your point: But what if they were ILLEGAL?!

You have done nothing to address that original point.

Okay, they were legally registered. BUT NOT TO HIM. He did not LEGALLY possess the guns, he had them ILLEGALLY.

My point: Criminals break the law, they will get guns illegally.

your point: Guns used in a crime were at one time legally registered to someone, ALL GUNS MUST BE BANNED.

Yeah, EVERYONE who owns any sort of rifles has that one. Besides, all that crap on it makes it useless for anything other than show.

Doesn't the S in AKS stand for shortened and the U stand fofolding stock?

Or does the U stand for shortened and the S stands for folding stock?

Nice strawman argument you got there, fella.

Fact: Illegally obtaining black market weapons is much harder than walking upstairs and just picking up your mom's gun(s).

To be perfectly fair, something like that would be unusable due to weight. They clearly took every part they had and suckered them all on the rifle.

That being said, nothing there makes the firearm more deadly. They are all just accessories, from flash light to lasers and optics. Nothing there makes it more deadly or more lethal.

Also, it should be noted that the AR-15 is actually a very popular home defense platform. Run polymer tipped hollowpoints and you got a great platform that won't be a huge over penetration issue. AR-15s are very, very, popular for Home Defense.

Yeah, you walk down the street and give the guy a wad of money instead.

Fact: criminals who are going to commit violent crimes will get their guns illegally, like the Newtown shooter did.

You can't do anything about limiting legal weapons until you do something about limiting illegally smuggled weapons.

Smuggling in general seems to be a big problems over there but when I ask you Americans the response is usually "we can't do anything about it".

Why can't you?

As far as I can remember, all these recent mass shootings have been done with legally obtained weapons, so why not start there?

The newtown school shooting was with illegally obtained weapons.

Unless you consider stealing OK.

The Clackamas shooter was also committed by someone who stole the weapons he used.

You are drastically over-simplifying the ease with which one illegally obtains a gun. OBVIOUSLY you have to set up the meeting. Which requires somehow finding someone to connect you with the black market. It's not just walking down the street. Nice try, though. Getting a black market gun is still 10x harder than walking upstairs and getting your mom's gun.

Australia.

Why is it so impossible to combat illegal smuggling that people on this forum completely dismiss it as an option. I see it refused to be considered at all whenever I bring it up.

But, they were legally owned by someone, which means whoever used them had them legally, right?

If i steal your car and run someone over, is it your fault?

Because our border is incredibly porous. We have a 2000 mile long boarder with Mexico, and only so many people manning it. We don't have the man power.

Because it is economically impossible to thoroughly screen anything and everything that ever enters the country.

You are saying that stolen weapons were legally obtained.

Refer to my above post, if i stole your car and ran someone over, are you responsible?
