If you assign every letter of the alphabet a number, a is 1, b is 2, etc., and you take all of the values of the word "MATH", and add them, you get 42. So math is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

Don't know if I asked this before, but which game do you prefer out of the two? Is it the classic Nintendo 64 adventure game that you hold nostalgia over, or the beloved fighting game for the Gamecube? I, personally, enjoyed Melee far more than OoT, probably more than I should have! Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my playthroughs of Ocarina of Time, but Melee is probably my more preferred game.

Please note: I am not asking which game is better, but which game you (just you) prefer. I do not care about graphics, or how the games play, just which one you find more fun.

Melee because of memories playing it with everyone and actually using all 4 controller slots.

I'll bring the tritium laser cutters if you bring the beer!

Funny story.

While I preferred Melee as a game, I think SMBB would have made a better comparison.

I prefer Ocarina of Time of course. I actually wouldn't mind playing through the game again...hmm you might have given me an idea for the winter break OP.

What are these first person words you speak of?

OoT.

Teh puma is playing through the 3ds version right now actually. He still enjoys it just as much as before, and then a little more with these new graphics/textures and whatnot. The ability to go back and fight every boss, as well as being given masters quest is pretty sweet.

However teh puma assumes you mean the original? He would still place it above melee. Melee was typically fun if you had friends, but when no one was over, teh puma got rather bored of it.

His vote goes to OoT.

Not comparing, but I know you're referring to Brawl's story mode. If this was about those two, I would've chose OoT. Don't ask me why, I don't enjoy Brawl nearly as much as Melee. Probably the nostalgia.

Oops I meant SMB for the N64.

I never had any friends that played Melee with me, and on the other side I didn't play OoT when I was young (so I have no nostalgia). I would always do these little stories I made up while playing Melee, until I could go toe to toe with level 9 CPU's. Not a massive feat I'm sure, but still.

I was thinking that, but I hardly played the original SMB. This time around I wanted to go with games I've played for over 10 hours.

Why compare games of two generations?

Why not Ocarina of time and Super Smash Brothers for the Nintendo 64?

Take me into your heart! Accept me as your savior! Nail me to the -blam!- cross, and let me be reborn!

Ocarina of Time. I never played much of SSBM because all my friends were too busy oggling over their PS2s.

Because that is irrelevant, my friend. I only ask which of the two you prefer. And because I wanted to go with two games I enjoyed for over 10 hours this time around.

Oh. Well I personally never played much melee but I'm playing through Majora's Mask as we speak. Majora's and Ocarina are some of my favorites so in that comparison, Ocarina wins for me.

Heh, I'm bringing the original SSB for the N64 to my bud's house tomorrow so we can play it again while he's home on leave. xD

I've never played Majora's Mask, but I have watched a playthrough of it. Always wanted to, I'll probably download it on the Wii whenever I get the chance.

OoT, I know people are probably gonna wanna slap me for this, but Super Smash bros., while fun, got old kinda quick.

  • 12.26.2012 7:51 PM PDT

Two movies you should watch: Fight Club and Pineapple Express

"Wait. What do you mean, it's dead?"
"If marijuana is not legal within the next five years I have no faith left in humanity, period. Everyone likes smoking weed. They have for thousands of years. They're not going to stop anytime soon. You know? It makes everything better. Makes food taste better, makes music better. It makes sex feel better for God's sake. It makes -blam!- movies better you know?"

OoT was a great game but I was completely addicted to melee. That game is probably my favorite one. Dissapointed I got rid of it. Link was such a badass in melee. I was sad when I saw how nerfed he was in brawl.

Don't LOL if you aren't L'inOL.

Halo: Reach
Halo 3
Halo ODST

Haven't played either, though I get the feeling I would prefer Melee.

Link and Marth were my preferred characters in Melee, and I was severely disappointed at how he is in Brawl. Hasn't stopped me from using him, though.

Don't do anything you wouldn't want to have to explain to paramedics. Trust me, I'm a pilot.

I loved Ocarina of Time, but I have so many fun memories playing Melee with friends that I had to choose it.

Ooh, now this is a really good matchup.

I played both to death but I found SSBM to be more replayable. I only played OoT for the boss fights.

The older I get, the more I realize what a master piece OoT was.

  • 12.26.2012 9:36 PM PDT

From the ashes

Oh, damn...That's not an easy question.

I've played both when I was younger til I went to bed late at night. I think I'm going to go with Super Smash Bros. Melee, on the point that it got absurdly fun with friends!

They are practically neck and neck though.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

OoT, but Super Smash Bros is better than that.
