The only thing that evil needs to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

Why did Princess Leia say that the ship was being tracked, and then head straight away to the hidden Rebel base?

It makes no sense. She knew they were being tracked, and she knowingly led the Death Star there, knowing it could blow up planets.

Leia had no business in any leadership role.

Everyone makes mistakes, she was under plenty of stress too.

Also, I don't think she "led the death star there".

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Well, to be honest, she did.

She saw it in orbit around Dantooine. Then she saw it blow up Dantooine. Given that she was raised there, she would know about the Empire building a moon sized battlestation in orbit there.

So she knows it travels.

Then she saw it blow up Dantooine. That means she knows what it is capable of.

She did put the Rebel Alliance at risk by coming straight home.

Wasn't Leia raised in Alderaan?

Whoops, my bad.

But either way, she would have noticed or heard about their building a battle-station, no?

I think anyone would notice, then again, when she escaped the Death Star she was under alot of stress, so she could have somehow forgotten, then again, she didn't know there was a tracker on the Millennium Falcon.

Paraphrasing:

Han Solo: Well, we're free, that isn't a bad bit of rescuing!

Leia: There tracking us, that's the only thing that explains the ease of our escape.

Han Solo: Not THIS ship, sister.

...

She was concerned they were being tracked, and still did it.

Bad leader.

Why did Leia lead the Death Star to the Rebel Base when she knew the Falcon had a tracking device on it?

She needed to get the blueprints in Artoo to Yavin so the Alliance could plan a counterattack. The Empire would have tracked them no matter where they go, so they had to get the plans to the Alliance. Also, it would've been too dangerous to go to another location because of this the odds were more in her favor if she didn't stop. Luckily, it was a homing beacon which can only track once the ship is out of hyperspace.
